First, let me say how much I adore Vilja! She has made my game so much more playable! She is wonderful, funny and a great companion! All my friends at work love hearing about what Vilja does, like making me a blueberry pie! I just love her.
However, she recently told me we need two more melting daedra hearts from Henri. This is the first time I've heard about daedra hearts OR Henri?!? When I go to see Henri, the only topic of conversation is: "WHAT DO YOU THINK OF VILJA?" I have no option to trade with her or ask about daedra hearts. What should I do?? I want Vilja to be happy!
Also, at one point she mentioned that one of her old friends works in a city starting with L in the castle. I went to Leyawiin and tried to find her, so Vilja could see her old friend. I couldn't find her? Is there really a friend of hers there? If not, maybe there should be?
Please advise- Thanks! Amy

Hi, Great to hear that you are enjoying Vilja's company - you might have to convince your friends at work to go and buy Oblivion too, so they can have their own blueberry pies . What you describe here is very strange. I'm looking in the construction set at the quest for the 'two more melting daedra hearts'. It is filtered so that it shouldn't ever show up until you have completed Vilja's first questline. I.e. Melinda should be safely out of prison and you should have been travelling around for a while after that. You should have met up with Heneri long ago, and done quite a few quests for her. The dialog filter says very specifically that you shouldn't be able to get this entry earlier. I wonder what on earth has triggered this for you. Has you actually received a quest for these daedra hearts, or is it just something Vilja has mentioned in a chatter (which she shouldn't do either)? If you have received this quest, it is called "A melting heart" and the first journal entry goes like this: If you have this quest and journal entry and you haven't finished the first quest (i.e. Melinda is still in prison), then this is a bug that arrived with ver 2.0 of Vilja but no-one has reported before. It is something I really need to trouble-shoot, so please give me any extra information you can. Have you for instance been upgrading Vilja recently? Which is your last journal entry for the original Vilja-quest? As for your game... if you have really triggered this quest and agreed to go and see Heneri, then you should if at all possible revert to a save before you triggered it. Else Vilja will be nagging quite a lot at you until you have completed quest no 1, which you need to do in order to get the topic for Daedra Hearts from Heneri. Could you also ingame call up the console, click on Vilja, type SV and then check what her variable "ingreds" say? (It's counting how many ingredients she has yet picked up).

I remember having the same glitch some time ago. I was testing a new configuration, trying to get rid of a stuttering problem. My idea was to fight with many people in both sides, and Vilja died in the first combat. As I wasn't totally sure of the stuttering being fixed y resurrect Vilja and continued with more combats.
When I finally was sure that there wasn't stuttering anymore, instead of reloading or exiting the game I decide to wander a little and eventually the melting hearts quest appeared, and Heneri didn't have other topic than "what do you think of Vilja".
This was in a version where the quest was broken the moment Vilja dies (If I remember correctly the next release, which happens one or two days later, was the one that didn't broke the quest, nor do give you an advise of Vilja's dead), so I assumed it was because of the resurrection.
I assumed that the second quest only appears if the quest is finished and Vilja is alive. As Vilja died, The first condition works and as I resurrect her, the second one works too.
So buttonsamy, if you had a previous version of Vilja and you had resurrect her, it's not so odd that this happen, being the quest broken. This case what you must do is reload to a saved game previous of her dead and download the last version with which you won't have this problem again (you could also make her essential in the config screen -the book in the top of her skills screen, via dialog-, in order to not need to resurrec her).
If you haven't resurrected her or you are using the latest version, then I suppose some other event had broke the first quest. This case maybe knowing which was the last Viljas quest entry before melting hearts one, could help.

Ok, the last quest I had for Vilja was "RESEARCH MATERIALS FOR VILJA: Vilja has recovered from the poison apple and is ready to continue"
Melinda is NOT out of prison, nor have I met Henri before. This happened after I did the Kvatch quest, breaking the seige. I don't want to complete the main quest, but I wanted to be the Hero of Kvatch. Vilja didn't die, nor have I had to resurrect her.
I do have the most recent version of Vilja, 2.3 I think it is? She is not altered in any way, just plain old Vilja you created. No custom bodies, etc.
What should I do? I really would like to continue with Vilja's quest and find out about Melinda...
Thanks for the help-

Oh, and I read more above:
I tried the console and typing SV after clicking on Vilja, and the script came up with something like: buttons used: 1 button used: 0 etc.
It was odd. She doesn't have too many ingredients at all. Maybe 6 or so? (Including strawberries I gave her)
I am willing to do what it takes to get Vilja back to rights and be able to complete her quest. Do you eventually get to meet Melinda?
Thank you so much for your help! I adore Vilja! She makes me laugh, my husband and I talk about her constantly! Sometimes when I am working on a quest I don't like (the Kvatch one) he will play for me. He keeps saying: "Doesn't she ever shut up? Oh wait, you have her set to talk as much as possible don't you?" I look rather guilty and say: "Of course! I love her talking to me!"
I will check back later about this- Amy

Buttomsamy, if she is also missing her summon spell she *definitely* has died while you had an earlier version of her and has been resurrected. That used to remove her summon-spell (which we altered) and as Amgepo confirms (I actually didn't know this) it will prematurely start the third quest (for more melting daedra hearts. If you haven't had her killed and resurrected, ask the husband... maybe he felt so guilty about that she got killed when he played that he didn't dare to tell you The ingredients that are counted when you make an SV arent the ingredients in her inventory but the number of ingredients that she has picked up, i.e. those that Melinda needs. If you cannot recall when she died and you haven't start doing quests for Heneri yet, I think the best solution for you would be to remove Vilja from your game, clean your game using this strategy, sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/runoblivion/updatesaves , and then add her again. There are other ways, but as you are planning to keep Vilja in your game, I think you might regret later if you don't restart at this fairly early point. Go and pick up the latest versions, 2.3.2, before doing so. And, of course, make sure that you grab everything you want to have in her inventory! ...and I'll let you in on how to quick-play the quest up to the point where you are now. What will follow here is a spoiler... ....... Pick up Vilja at the Bloated Float. Ask her about her background. Bring her out in the wilderness, where she can find ingredients. Wait 24 hours. Repeatedly start conversations with her. Rather soon, she will tell you that she has found a new ingredient. Ask her about her past - she will tell you more about it after each 24 hours. Talk to her again - see if there is time to do any of her smallquests, like going to the bookstore. If that is the case, do the quest. return to the wilderness, wait 24 hours. Start repeatedly conversations with her. Now it should be a very high chance that she will very soon tell you she has found another ingredient. Ask about her past. Continue like this - wait 24 hours, start conversations and she'll find ingredients. Ask about her past. Do the small quests in between. It shouldn't take you more than 1-2 hours to get to the point where you are now. (It might be good to stock up with some strawberries/sweetrolls etc as when yyou first meet her, her disposition towards you will only be 50)

Kvatch eh? Is it possible that the 'companions and obliviongates' glitch has kicked in, replicating the effect of resurrection? Just a thought.

Hardly, as a resurrecting effect wouldn't break the quest. The breaking point is Vilja's death.
Unless you are suggesting that vilja could have die in Oblivion without the player realizing it and the obliviongates glitch could have resurrected her.
If this is possible, could have cause this situation in previous versions of Vilja. But I suppose a companion won't follow you out of Oblivion if not in follow mode, and Vilja won't be in follow mode when dead.
EDIT: Maybe if she dies and the player closes the oblivion gate after the quest breaks but before the following mode ends. Supposing the quest breaks before the following mode ending and the player closes the quest popup before the script has time of ending following mode. I see to many 'ifs' and some of them could not even be possible at all.

Hi. I'm doing "A Melting Heart" at the moment and have found the body of Carleon Corneir, gotten the note, and advanced the quest to the part where I'm supposed to find wolf tracks. I found Wolfgang and had him follow me (which may have been a mistake). Now the quest marker is wherever Wolfgang is. I couldn't find any marks to trigger the next part, so I just went to The Two Sister in Skingrad anyway (with Vilja and Wolfgang in tow, the green marker staying faithfully with Wolfgang). I was hoping that I might be able to advance the quest by talking with his girlfriend there (who I found), but the dialog option opens up blank. Now I'm back in Zrenk Ruin hoping to find the trigger to move on. Any ideas? I don't want to run out of strawberries and sweetrolls. Vilja's stronger than I am. EDIT: Resolved. I just had to dialog with Vilja again so that she could suggest we go to Skingrad. All is well.

When nothing else is the trigger, Vilja normally is . Talking to her generally solves many things.
