Hey everyone! Let me say hello on this board with a Let's Play of this magnificent game. I've put hundreds of hours into Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim and I thought why not dedicate all this energy and experience to a proper Let's Play. In contrast to many others I'm playing on maximum difficulty and I will not rush it. I prefer to enjoy my playthrough and take on the challenges it entails. Without further ado, enjoy and tell me what you think:

I'm three years into my present play through, level 2, and have done nothing but pick flowers. I haven't even got above rats for random spawn enemies.

It's been around three years since i played Oblivion. Morrowind, with its many guilds and factions and extensive CS, took me about six years to reach the "been there, done that" point with a new character; Oblivion took less than two years to reach that point, and it was only Vilja that made it last that long.
But I agree, taking your time and pursuing all trails is the way to go; the opposite of many newer gamers who apparently just want to see how quickly they can play through a game and move on.

Morrowind will always be special to me, too. That first playthrough brought a feeling almost no other game brought for me. It does feel a bit clunky to me, though, nowadays and there I thought Oblivion is a good fit for a long Let's Play. About years of collecting flowers: sounds super-relaxing The environment and the music do that part extremely well.

.... I just love the effort that was put into making the plants look like their RL namesakes. Which underscores one of my major complaints with Oblivion. According to the maps Morrowind and Cyrodiil share a border - they are adjacent to each other on an unknown planet with two moons. But while Morrowind is an alien world of strange flora and fauna, of wizards living in giant hollow mushrooms, of kagouti and guar and nix-hounds; Cyrodiil is medieval earth, with walled towns, ordinary oak and pine trees, and deer and bears and mountain lions and wolves ...and two creatures - minotaur and unicorn - direct from earth mythology. Apparently that border is an advanced force field which prevents anything but sentient beings (elves, nords, orcs, etc.) from crossing.

Oh, that and the twitchy ugly chargen, no spears, no levitation, and the lore contradictions. The only (partial) return to a Morrowind-style level of originality was the Shivering Isles expansion.

Let's not forget the Oblivion anti erosion mushroom shaped rocks everywhere. And oh yes, your character is a KLUTZ at word go. Start Oblivion, put her in the lake and swimming against a rock then come back in 24 hours where her stats increase to playable character. Then you have to go leap off of 1200 cliffs to improve another stat. And of course, all characters should automatically have 50 strength from lugging around a half ton of repair hammers. Gee, a new game play day! What to do first? Go home and repair all your equipment, of course!
