Vilja Skyrim --- Stuck (Bards Testing)

She just told me about the Bards College Letter/Testing
Then she started to repeat the dialogue
So I interrupted it --- now Wilbert will not converse

I suppose she will bring it up again

She did, we went on the carriage right there ---
and --- The Same !

I'm thinking I broke it ?

Wotan, when you talk to Wilbert to ask him to teach Vilja, tab out the dialogue before it closes on its own. The scene should start properly.

I smell Windpeak Inn disease. If you have a save from before or just arriving at Dawnstar, make a special save before talking to Wilbert. Wash, rinse repeat until the quest starts.

From the forum: As it seems something in the Windpeak Inn in Dawnstar makes Vilja and Wilbert get stuck in the scene or the scene even doesn't start at all. Best would be to load previous savegame or the autosave when you are entering the in. Then exit the inn and wait at least 1 hour and enter again afterwards. If there is the scene playing which starts the quest of Vermina about the nightmare of the citizens of Dawnguard, let it play until the female miners leave the inn and afterwards talk to Wilbert.

That Inn has caused so many issues it's off the charts ridiculous. Do the Inn then scoot straight to the BC. Do as Dova suggested as well. Be prepared to replay reload a few times.

Used the ReSet Spell on Her

and she immediately wanted a night out

We need @dova amgepo or @emma right now.

The problem is Vilja is on a timer. Or maybe two timers. Her quests are on a timer so advancing a quest stage may not happen for some time. I believe she also has event timers. And of course there are pending scripts which may be hung before she will advance a quest. And we can't tell which is going on.
If all else fails after a period of time, probably a little more than three in game days with no activity you can use the Vilja reset. Go to the Bannered Mare and speak to Beata. Follow through her Vilja dialogue with her and tell her what quests have been completed. This may help clear the backlog and maybe some hung scripts. Beata is a Vija repair tool installed when you installed Vilja.

My personal solution is to stop all quest advancing and take Vilja for a long walk through lots of transition cells while not engaging in ANY quest activity.

Make a special save before using Beata. In the Console type SAVE BeataWhatever Then have Beata complete various quests and take Vilja for a 25 hour stroll between each Beata session. Nothing works, revert to that save and try something else.

PS What happens if you enter the following command -> movetoqt [quest id] ? Have you tried Resetquest [quest id] Have you SPAMMED YOURSELF BACK TO MORROWIND with showquesttargets ? This can be really full of glurp.

As to 'not engaging in ANY quest activity'
I am almost level 91 and there are no proper quests left ---
apart from the radiant fetch quest found on the 'Missives' boards.

Should I adjust the 'timescale' back to 20 (or more) it is now on 10.

She hasn't initiated the quest so setting it back to zero would probably be safest.

You could also run the Beata test having her set the quest to completed and see if Vilja acts any differently.

I'm wondering if Wilbert failed to fully trigger the quest. Told the game but Vilja didn't get the message.

what good is ReSet going to do ?

a reset may clear whatever has blocked or stalled the quest. Vilja's scripting is rather complex and some things are timed; doing something too soon or too late, making the wrong conversation selection, forgetting some simple task, can interrupt her processes; sometimes things will eventually clear on tehir own, sometimes not. Other mods with scripts running can interfere, as can a program or system crash while a script is running, when the game is restarted Vilja is "confused".

That sums it up well. Also, I suspect with the clunky way scripts are handled by the game engine a pending script that fails to run due to a script backlog when the game gets saved the script gets cemented into the save but may not get put in the queue. I found using 'quiet time', no activity in the cell and giving it a few minutes before a save, then using a saved game cleaner, there were less foibles for it to clean up.
Doing a save in a crowded room with more than one quest active and quest activators present is a sure fire recipe for disaster down the road.

Also, doing a save in a spawning point can lead to a huge mess down the road. I once saaved after exiting Eldergleam then Vilja's quest wasn't working right. I reloaded the save and a Spriggan was standing there, non hostile. Was that ever a hint. Did Vilja's quest up to rescuing her but she wasn't there. I finally used the console to find her but she had amnesia. No quests, nothing but her usual travel comments. She left her frontal lobes with the Spriggan.

I've had no problem using timescale 10, so that setting is probably OK. Many people have had problems (with Vilja and other quests) when using a timescale less than 10

Well I gave it 3 days of Isolation and lots of Resets and:

Wilbert = No Change
but
Vilja now wants to make me fur armor
