Vilja has silent conversations with Frea from the Dragonborn DLC. I have tried a lot of different things to try to figure this out/fix it on my own and I cannot.
It seems as though the dialogue responses were never set up properly, despite the fact that Frea has spliced lines already set up in the BSA. When Vilja talks to her there are no actual responses.
I can post a video demonstrating this, if needed. I left a very long comment about this on Vilja's SE page on the Nexus and DM'd Emma about it on there but she hasn't logged onto Nexus in 6+ months. If anyone could help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Repost of my comments from the Nexus, for further context and to save people the trouble of looking there to see what I've already tried on my own to fix this:
1. "Vilja keeps trying to have conversations with Frea from the Dragonborn DLC but Frea has no responses/they're completely silent so it ends up just seeming like Vilja is chatting with herself, I can't figure out why this is happening"
2. "I can't, for the life of me, figure out why this would be the case.
I've even gone as far as extracting the BSA for EMViljaInSolstheimAddOn.BSA to see if the dialogue lines are matched up with Frea's voicetype, which they are, so there is really no reason for it to not be working.
I also converted the .fuz files to .wav so I could listen to them to make absolutely certain they weren't just placeholders and there is actual audio in them, which there is.
I cannot fathom why the responses aren't playing correctly.
I have no other mod affecting Frea in a way that would be messing with her voice. Like, I'm wondering if the author just never set the lines to respond properly? But that makes no sense to me given the lines are already spliced up and in the BSA.
Looking at Emma's FAQ for Vilja from back in 2015 it's stated:
"Q:Can Vilja interact with DLC and/or custom-made companions/followers, such as Serana?
A:Since ver 3, there's the introduction option to allow Vilja to comment about other DLC and cutom-voiced followers, including 2 of your adopted children, Serana, Frea, Gregor, Rayya, Valdimir, Cerwiden, Dorethi, and Inigo. Out of the listed characters, Vilja can only fully interact with Inigo and the children; for the others, she will recognize their presence and talk to them, but these NPCs will not reply to Vilja. This feature will be expanded in future versions."
But the current version of this mod is 4.3, surely this must've been implemented, right?
I can't imagine Emma would've gone through all the effort of splicing vanilla lines together as responses, recording lines for Vilja to say/respond with, and then just never bother to actually implement the feature."
3. "Checking the Oldrim Vilja page Emma explicitly states "She has unique interaction with the Solstheim companion Frea"
So, I wonder if this is a problem specific to the SE version of this mod? So bizarre that this hasn't been updated in nearly 6 years but I can't find anyone, anywhere online mentioning this issue at all. Strange, considering how popular this mod is. "
