Witchgirl Problem (Morrowind)

First off,
I wish to thank Emma & whoever her collaborators are in creating the companion mods. They really add immersion, amusement & overall fun to my play through.

I've been playing with Morgana for a bit, and I have only just started her quest line, where I have to find Melvin. The only problem is is that she disappears at random, even if she is right behind me. I have found that she disappears completely because when I load up any save with her, it says "missing object '1AA_Morgana00000000' in [[insert region/interior]].

I have tried the 72 hour fix that I've seen floating around and I have also tried the placeatme console command. The console command worked once before, but now my game CTDs when I input it.

Being that it's Morrowind, and due to my fruitless research of this problem, I surmise that my companion is forever gone, where I have to reinstall her, and that my save game is corrupted?

I've tried searching for similar problems to what I am experiencing now, but the major difference between Morgana and any other companion is the ability to call them to me with in-game items, such as "Constance's Ring."

I have WyreMash and Mlox, and I have used them both to help increase my Morrowind's stability. If there is anything I can do to help fix this problem without re-installing Morgana, let me know. It would be deeply appreciated

If she really is gone, I fear it must be caused by some incompatibility issue with another mod, because she really shouldn't vanish from the game-world.

Actually, you can "summon" her.
Just talk to her grandfather and ask him where Morgana is. She will then appear in the house. Or, she should, if nothing has deleted her from the game world. This should be possible already at an early stage of the quest.

I really have no idea why she would vanish like what you describe. Is it really completely random, or is it connected to something else, like for instance if you are levitating?
Do you have other companions in tow when she vanish, or is it just you and her? Have you had other companions in tow previously? If so, you can try and wait for +72 game hours, and see if it improves her following behaviour.

But, if she is really gone from the gameworld, this must be connected to another mod/feature, and I'm too oblivious about the newer Morrowind mods to have any valid input about this.

When I talk to her grandfather, he does not have the topic of asking where Morgana is.

She actually vanishes quite randomly, regardless of what I'm doing. I do have other companions when she vanishes. Spot, Jasmine, and 2 pack guars. I also tried the 72 hour troubleshoot, but it did not help, as she is missing.

Actually, I used to have Morgana follow along with Constance, Spot, Jasmine and my pack guars, and nothing odd would happen, but when I started her personal quest, that's when she would disappear. If it helps to know, it seems she has been deleted from all of my saves, regardless of where I am in the game world. Even if I were in Vivic, it would say "Missing object 1AA_Morgana00000000 in Ald-Ruhn bla bla bla..." on a save I made 2 days ago.

I've actually never experienced a mod conflict that would delete something from all of my saves in any of the Elder Scrolls games, though I suppose that is always a possibility with Morrowind.

Any idea how that could come to be?

Did you do a repair all in Wrye Mash or inadvertently remove the mod from your load order? Those are the only two things that spring to mind that would cause MW to spit out that error.

If her grandpa doesn't have the topic, it must mean she is... dead. Or, as you say, erased from the game. My thoughts are the same as jac's - have you been using Mash or other tools to "repair all" or to merge mods in any way?

I have used the repair all function in Wrye Mash only after I couldn't figure out how to fix the problem. I have mashed my mods together though, and everything worked out nicely until I started Morgana's 1st quest. I never removed the mod either, but there may be one thing that caused it.

Jac reminded me of something that I read in the Wrye Mash wiki-thing, is that errors/doubling/whatever can be caused when a mod is removed from the load order because of its ObjectIndex and ModIndex, as supposedly it becomes "out of sync", so to speak.

I did take out one mod & renamed another to the mod that I took out, and now I wonder if mayhaps that is the cause of Morgana being deleted from all of my save games. Actually, I think it is because Morrowind can't find her "reference" anymore.

That can happen to companions if you add or remove mods that load before them because that'll change their load order. Adding or removing mods that load after a companion mod won't affect the mod the same way. As long as she didn't have any equipment you gave her, I would remove her, do another repair all to remove the references, load the game and make a new save. Then I would add the mod back in, making sure it loads last (but before your mashed lists if you use that) so that it won't interfere with any other mods. Load up and go get her again, making a save before you start her questline again.

[Edit]: Forgot to add: Axel and I made an...extension to L&L. You can find it on PES by either searching for me under author or lovers & legends in the description. If you do use our mod, I would rename it to the L&L filename and replace L&L with the new version because both shouldn't be used at the same time.

Let me know if my suggestions fix your issue. Normally I wouldn't recommend doing that with companions, but I think witch girl doesn't have companion share and was released before Tribunal enabled it, so she won't have the same issues as newer companions would.

Well, so far so good. I've started Morgana's quest & she hasn't disappeared yet!

I will continue to monitor closely what happens if she does disappear in the future, but for now, I'm going to enjoy her combat prowess & personality. Thank you Jac for helping me with this issue.
