... If I have a criticism it is not related to the accents, but perhaps to the pacing of some of the dialogue elements. To my British ears some of the dialogue seems to be spoken too slowly, with pauses between phrases that are a bit long for my taste. However, this may be a cultural thing and I'm just used to a faster dialogue flow. I for one am pretty glad about that. Since my mother tongue is not english, it's of course much easier for me to follow the dialogs. Especially because I don't use subtitels. I too am a Brit. I haven't found a single thing wrong with her rate of speech. In fact, the only thing I should like to see is more dialogue for the 'player' responses. Why can't I tell her she is beautiful sometimes,or say 'I love you so much' Tell her to use the bed, instead of her bedroll, maybe I want too much from Emma and co. When will we 'KISS' we have professed undying love now everyday and I,ULRIK, haven't even held her hand!!! ;D But really Vilja is the most complete virtual girl ever!! gavain

Or, rather, pretty, but that's approx the same thing, isn't it? And you CAN tell her that you love her once you have started to romance her. It will be available as a new topic in the "Let's just talk for a while" topic. And.... guess what will be included in the next update (1.2) which I believe should be released tomorrow or possibly the next day. Well, not a kiss. But a hug .

There was a new guy today at Nexus who posted that he loved the mod (Skyrim version) but that a more professional voice actor with a better timbre would improve it significantly, as the dull voice didn't match up to Vilja's lovely looks. It IS admittedly very discouraging... Dear Emma, please don't take that flamings to your heart. It's not worth to waste even a single thought on it. I know that you are currently experiencing a very difficult time. Especially so close to Christmas. It's hardly surprising that you're most likely very sensitive at the moment. Nevertheless, you go on. Therefore my deepest respect! I wish you lots and lots of strength and energy to cope this situation and my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Rest assured that noone of these flamers did anything similiar to that what you and your team has managed. It's easy to demand this and that. But it's hard to make it better. Did you ever read the bashings and trollings on any professionell developer-forums? Maybe even bethsoft.com? So what? That's Biz! I for one tried to translate a quote of Astrid Lindgren. Since I don't speak Swedish at all, there's something to laugh now... (Hopefully it's fairly understandable. ;D) "Låt dig inte kuvas, var fräck och vild och underbar."Thank you Oh yes, your translation is absolutely working, it sounds perfect! Pippi certainly is vild, fräck och underbar. (Although I think my favorite is still Ronja Rövardotter) As for devs being flamed... Oh yes! It sometimes makes me sad when I see players bashing Bethesda, who gave them these beautiful games, and then in the next sentence say that modders are doing better work than the original game developers. Well, that's not fair! I mean, of course Bethesda cannot make an indepth companion like Vilja. Not because they can not do it, but because there wouldn't be any economy in doing it when there are so many parts of the game to develope. They have to be rational and have a much broader perspective, whereas we modders can concentrate on the areas that we enjoy most.

Yes, I think I have become a bit discouraged by the complaints about my voice, and of course it is easy to forget that although some people bash it, others actually do like it. So the encouragement is much appreciated, I think I really need it right now. Please don't be discouraged. I think the accent is lovely, although I do admit it took a little while to "settle in" for me. My current favourite line is "Oh, I like that" when you offer her a drink. It just makes me grin each time. It's lovely to hear that people actually do get use to her also when they don't are that keen on the accent from start. For the pace, I must admit that I often feel brits are talking VERY fast, like they were always in a hurry. We do talk slower here. Some of the pauses between the phrases might be related to that you have multiple entries in a dialog; then there will automatically be a lightly extended pause when you switch dialog line.

Welcome to this forum, Alt3rn1ty, good to see an old friend arriving here I'm so glad that Vilja is still an important part of the Elder Scrolls games in your family . As for those numbers, I think if those numbers prove something, it is above all that people have changed their habits to endorse mods. I mean, the most endorsed file EVER for Oblivion has 3700 endorsements. Vilja, the number 6 most endorsed file for Oblivion, has 2127 endorsements. Whereas Skyrim Vilja after 5,5 weeks has 4040 endorsements, and the most endorsed Skyrim file has I believe 24 000 endorsements (Vilja is around the 50th most endorsed, which I think is fantastic after such a short time).

Same in Germany too, everyone wanted to speak in English to me as practice.

A woman who knows she is beautiful probably prefers to hear that. A woman who is sure she isn't beautiful might prefer "you look pretty" as this is something she can relate to and believe in. It also depends on how much she trusts the one who says the words. I don't think Vilja's conficence is that high from start, and when she doesnt' know the player, would she then believe him if he says: "You are beautiful"? Also, someone who is not romancing her and never intended to romance her... what would he/she say? Probably pretty rather than beautiful... Maybe I should change it so that once a romance is initiated, it will change into "beautiful" instead of "pretty".

Emma Now we are getting into the philosophical!! but I DO think perhaps it could become 'beautiful 'as you say 'once the romance starts', I really don't want to make life hard for you and the team, but I honestly feel that Vilja is so much more than the young woman, naive in many ways, but so adorable, who grows up so quickly partnering the 'Player'yet retains such innocence is capable of growth.

Welcome to this forum, Alt3rn1ty, good to see an old friend arriving here Thank you, I have been meaning to join for ages .. Nice forum. Yes, even my eldest is participating this time. Oblivion Vilja was more interesting to my youngest who treated her more like a barbie doll in game trying out goddess store combinations. With Skyrim Vilja I see her more concerned for Vilja as a virtual friend and quite often hear "Vilja! what are you doing!" as she runs off to join the fight which has just errupted ;D My eldest's adventures are a bit more shrouded in secrecy ( a ladies prerogative ), but I know she has Vilja in game. Oh and my apologies for sending Amgepo a heap of concern which held up the latest version. Everyone can pointy finger at me now .. Big shoulders .. I'll contain my curios nose until after the next release.

Hi Emma, Having just joined the forum (hi guys!), I just wanted to congratulate you and the team for doing such an amazing job with Vilja! For me she's brought the game alive again...in fact I can't stop playing! As far as your accent is concerned I Love it! Having visited Sweden many times for holidays, I never tire of listening to a female Swedish accent...nothing beats it! You're absolutely correct in saying that many of us Brits do tend to speak too quickly...something I found I was doing during my first visit to Stockholm! Anyhow thanks again for your great work....I can't wait for more from you guys! Take care, Hejda (not sure how to get Swedish letters on my iPhone!)

Welcome to the forum, andyb And thank you for the feedback on Vilja - it's great that you are enjoying her, don't get too obsessed gaming though . We've just uploaded a new version, btw, so you can go and grab it in the section for Downloads. Some new content, the first one that comes to mind right now is the werewolf comments. Hej då!

I just discovered Vilja about a week ago, and have quickly fallen for her. She's an absolute delight, and I can't thank you and your team enough for putting this mod together. I am eager to see how you continue to develop her capabilities and her story.
And as far as her (your) accent goes, it's absolutely part of her charm. I admit that I found her a little difficult to understand for the first minute or so, but that was probably because 1) I wasn't expecting a Swedish accent and it took my brain a few seconds to recognize and 2) the inn was a bit noisy at the time from other NPCs. Since then, I haven't been bothered by it all. Quite the contrary. I quickly came to enjoy her speech. In fact, I strongly feel that she wouldn't be Vilja without your voice behind her. Please, please, please, don't stop sharing your voice with her!!!!
Also, she (you) has a lovely singing voice and I'd like to hear more of her humming as we walk or ride along together. Maybe it's in the mod already, and I just have to be patient, but all I've heard so far is a few bars of what sounded like "Santa Lucia" and a few bars of "Greensleaves/What Child Is This?" If you're looking for suggestions, maybe a bit of "Il est né le divin enfant" might be nice, or "Molly Malone/Cockels &Mussels".
Anyway, keep up the good work, and ignore the tiny handful of silly people who don't love Vilja.
