... is she really trying to tell me something? For example, 1) The girl has started complaining about her shoes wearing out. Being the caring sort and possessing a truly sterling character, I've bought her several pair from Radiant Raiment, and I've upgraded her armor (including her boots), but still she complains. Is she just having an Emelda Marcos moment? ;D 2) She's frequently warning me about my armor if I plan on fighting another dragon. 3) She will complain of being thirsty, even after I've poured bottles of wine, ale, and mead down her lovely throat. 4) She will chew me out for not ever asking her opinion on what to do next right after I've asked her to tell me more about herself, her thoughts, her thoughts on this place, and what we should do next, and while she is in middle of leading the way to goodness only knows where. I want my girl (and Vilja says she love me and she calls me "sweetheart" all the time. She's my girl, so all you other louts better back off!!! ) to be happy, but sometimes she baffles me! (Kinda like my wife and teenage daughter do in real-life.) So many of her comments are truly helpful - reminding me that I'm ill, for example - that it makes me wonder if I can really dismiss anything she says as just random. Any insight would be appreciated!

I'm fairly sure thse comments are just random chatter. The chatter she does ,oes not seem to have any real relevance.ie:excatly what you described.
For me she was complaining about her shoes so much I took he default shoes away fom her and gave her 4 different fine and leather boots with high level encants.Se still complains incessantly.
I do beleive letting her lead the way, and, how often you let her do that, effects her disposition towardrs you.But even if you let er lead constanly she will still gripe ,not respecting her opinion on what to do next.
Generally if it's not diectly quest related it is just andom chatter.

When she gets annoyed at you for not letting her take the lead, I do wish there were more possible replies other than either letting her take the lead right there and then or getting her even more annoyed. Adorable as she is, she can really, really pick her times. Sometimes you are on your way to a particular quest location and really want to focus on that.

Being the caring sort and possessing a truly sterling character, I've bought her several pair from Radiant Raiment, and I've upgraded her armor (including her boots), but still she complains. Is she just having an Emelda Marcos moment? ;D The shoe thing is only random chatter, but if you are traveling a lot and you aren't riding, I would expect her shoes to get worn quite frequently. This is a quest-comment I believe. You have a dragon-fight ahead of you in the mainquest, right? And right now, each time you reload and you are in Whiterun, Vilja will bring this up? She will stop after you have done this part of the quest. It's a game-engine bug that forces her to repeat certain SayOnce comments on each game-load, we're looking into ways to deal with this bug which arrived with ve r1.7 of Skyrim. I believe that if you upgrade to ver 1.3, this annoyance should be gone. She will now very rarely be thirsty and demand a drink. Many comments are random, but often filtered so they should show up at a good timing. for instance, if she says she is tired, you'll likely to find it's in the middle of the night, so that's why she is tired. I had her set to be thirsty every 8th hour, which seemed realistic, but it has turned out to be annoying especially for those who are fasttraveling a lot (time flies when you're fasttravelling) so I have changed that now. In ver 1.3, she will also demand to lead the way less frequently (when I calculated the timing, I didn't really consider how long it would take her to lead you a long way; players weren't so happy when she on arrival demanded to lead the way again. These are things that I will continue to finetune until it eventually works nicely) A lot of comments are related to locations and quests, others to weather conditions, her disposition etc etc. It's actually not so many that aren't at all filtered for certain circumstances. Even the shoes-comments are filtered; she shouldn't ever complain about her shoes when she is not following you around.

Thank you, m'lady, for your kind response. Perhaps you get tired of hearing it, but this is a superb piece of work and you and your team should be very proud. Miss Vilja has made an already fun game into something that's a pure delight to play. Thank you!
Edit: As for the fine tuning, I have great confidence in your abilities and your determination to get things right. This is clearly a labor of love on your part - you wouldn't have poured all of those hours into creating something this intricate, this detailed, this well thought out, if you weren't truly dedicated (and talented). Please don't hear my question as a criticism in any way. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Hey! You might have something there! How about something like "Please be patient for just a little bit longer, and then it will be your turn. I promise." Maybe she'll accept that the first two or three times without being annoyed (each delay is worth a day in game time, maybe?). But if you try it too many times (don't deliver/break your promise) she gets really miffed.

Speaking forthrightly from a position of ignorance about How These Things Are Implemented (at least in specific terms), something I'd like is a way of say "But ... we need to go to $questlocation!" and then have her get annoyed if we don't actually go to $questlocation within a reasonable timeframe (and she may disagree anyway) (where $questlocation is somewhere relevant in the player's list of active quests). However, my intuition tells me this would be a nightmare to implement.
Sometimes, I do wish Vilja Taking The Lead was optional (in fact, I haven't actually checked if it is ...)

There are a few respones that I wish were different.I think it mostly comes from Emma's point of veiw on the game(makes sense).Vilja asked me why I joined the Empire, and all the possible asnwers were very incorrect IMHO.But it is an opinion. So those things may be hard to tailor.
I never join the stormcloaks because I beleive Ulfrich has become more concerned with becoming king than creating a safe home for his people that is not controlled by the elves. The fact that nords treat other races horribly shows too much racism, fear and bigotry.Would Skyrim be any better under Nord rule. Not so sure.
That is one example.
I do wish there were more choices when asnwering Vilja's questions(why did you join the Empire?,why did you jolin the theives guild)?.Generally it is either.I love you.I hate you and not much in between.
I also think it would be cool if Vilja could, when she leads sometimes lead you to a quest location that she wants to do.Vilja is very helpful and really likes to help the people of Syrim(even the evil ones)that wouild be cool if Vilja would sometimes lead to a quest location.
Just some thoughhts.
