How to Get Vilja (Skyrim) to Sell Stuff

Subject says it all really

I've placed a whole heap of shiz into Vilja's special "for sale" stash, taken her to a couple of general vendors, but so far - nada.

Am I missing something bleedingly obvious?

Just talk to her and ask her to do you a favor. Under those options you can one that has do some shopping for you. There are several options for shopping to choose from. When she does her shopping trip, she will automatically sell anything in her special sell inventory and the gold will be in her inventory.
