Hiya, I've been playing with the Vilja mod installed since last November (it's fabulous) and never had any real problems until recently. For the last couple of weeks I've had Bruse appearing in my house. I have the Hearthfire mod installed and Vilja has made her home in Lakeside Manor. I'm also using the 1.4 version of the mod. I left her alone at home whilst I completed the Dawnguard quests and on my return home saw that she missed my character so much she had let Bruse into the main room (perched inside/above the table). Since then, whenever she's at home for a few hours, Bruse always ends up appearing in the house, in whatever room Vilja happens to be in. I'm not sure if this is due to something in the 1.4 version (as you changed Vilja's summoning of Bruse and the new horn animation), or what. I've been stood outside, admiring the view, and witnessed Bruse walk up the stairs of the veranda and let himself into the house by using the back door! When I follow, I find Bruse halfway into the kitchen, as Vilja is using the cooking pot in there. I've led Vilja out of the house, told her to mount her horse before telling her to get off it again, wait until the animation is totally finished, led her around the area a little then taking her back inside and suggesting she 'relax here a little'. She promptly goes off and does something. I go out exploring for a day and night, to return and find Bruse back in the house. It's got so irritating Vilja is currently confined to the stables outdoors. Any clues as to what I can do to stop this happening? Anyone else having similar problems (like finding Bruse inside the Bannered Mare occasionally)? Cheers in advance for any help. Wolfie.

Hi there. You might try looking for the update 1.4.1.1 here or at Nexus, downloading it manually, and installing it. The Bruse-entering-building bug (or "feature," if you like it) was supposed to have been fixed with that update.
Yes, I experienced it too before updating. :-) I even have a video of it somewhere.

lol, I had Bruse randomly appear in the town square of Riften but never indoors. When he was appearing in Riften I fixed it by having her follow me again (I had left her in lakeside when I was doing the thieves guild quests as I didn't want Alex to disappoint her by being a thief). Then I mounted up and she summoned Bruse and he hasn't appeared in Riften again.

Thanks folks for the replies Indeed, it was quite funny, before it got tiresome. My whole Skyrim playthrough with Vilja as my companion has had its fair share of ups and downs. Vilja has done some/instigated some very memorable moments! Thank you Geriatricus for the update suggestion, I didn't realise a new version was out - silly me. Playing too much Skyrim to tread the boards... Right then, off to sort it out. Fight well, or die trying. Wolfie

It *is* pretty funny, Wolfskald. I was recording when it happened to me. Take a look here (I've posted it before I think here elsewhere): youtu.be/KXXnLJPeLjQ?t=31m4s

The fact that Bruse ended inside in this video is not so odd, considering Vilja was ridding. This is the same engine bug as when someone say something to when you are about to enter home and ends inside with you. The odd thing is that she has been asked to dismount and she didn't.
In those cases, clicking on Bruse may help, as she will go to the opposite mount/dismount state. So, if somehow the engine thinks she is not mounted, the first click may place her in mounted state and the second one may make her actually dismount.
