This isn't a Vilja-related query, but this is the only Skyrim forum I've subscribed to, so I thought I'd ask the question here. I've reached Smithing 70 and got the Glass Smithing perk but, when I go to a forge, it only lists glass weapons for me to make and not glass armour.
There's nothing in the Official Game Guide, so I did a web search and the only thing I found was a suggestion that you have to be Level 37 before you will come across glass armour on NPCs, in chests etc. Does this mean that I also can't make it myself until I get to Level 37 either? I'm at Level 31 at the moment. If that is the case, I wish it was stated clearly somewhere, because I would have gone for some other perks first had I known.

Sounds weird. You should be able to craft all things form glass if you have the perk.

I've realised that it may be because I haven't yet found/bought the smithing plans for glass armour. I haven't seen anyone selling this book yet, so it's possible it won't appear until I reach Level 37. I will be touring the Skyrim blacksmiths in the meantime though, just in case!

Thanks for the suggestion, golddragon. I've got to Smithing 75 without using an armour mod so far, so am not sure I want to go down that road at this stage. However, I've had no joy finding the smithing plans yet (if, indeed, that's the issue).

I use crafting 300 (or something like that) which currently does only weapons.
I was asking if you were using a mod, since vanilla Skyrim doesn't use books to unlock armor/weapon types.

I was asking if you were using a mod, since vanilla Skyrim doesn't use books to unlock armor/weapon types. Ah right, I was actually unaware of that! No wonder I couldn't find anything about smithing plans when searching on Google! I've been running with some mods from the outset so have forgotten what some of them are doing. I've reviewed my mods and it's Lorecraft Vanilla which has introduced the smithing plans: skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9959/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D9959%26preview%3D&pUp=1It's not been an issue until now as I'd always found the plans before I'd reached the required Smithing level to make the armour in question. Looks like I'll need to decide whether or not to continue using it. Thanks for your help golddragon.

Glad to help. I use Crafting 300 myself, but it doesn't do armors, yet.
