I decided to rebuild my Morrowind game, and added the Beryl, Constance and Julan followers.
According to the readme's, I should find Beryl in Seyda Neen In Arrille's Tradehouse after talking to the "natives" about "Someone in particular". She is never mentioned by any of the NPCs (by name or by reference) in their responses. She is NOT in the Tradehouse anywhere.
I am starting a fresh game from scratch. What am I missing? I downloaded the latest version from Emma's website a couple days ago. I followed the directions. Talked to the NPC's as soon as I was out of the Tax office before going anywhere else.
I came across reference to a "IT BERYL AND CONSTANCE FIX.ESP" on someome's mod list online. I can't find it anywhere. Is that necessary? (I should have Beryl 1.1)
Help!?

Since we often overlook the obvious, did you remember to enable the mod?
Also, if you are using Vista or later and installed Morrowind in "Program Files" you may be experiencing file access issues. Make sure your user account has full access to the Morrowind folder.

Thank you for your response! Yes. Mod activated. Was taught early on by a very wise person that you check the simple and obvious first (is it plugged in?). But it's good to be reminded. Windows 7 is a pain in the ^@&%#! about security; but yes I opened up that set of folders to avoid that issue.
I actually found the issue: I had installed "Seyda Neen Docks v7"; which is pretty cool; but it eats up too much frame rate. So I uninstalled it. All of a sudden Beryl shows up properly in the "someone in particular" dialogs. Go to the trader, and hey presto - there she is!
I suspect one of two things - Either there is something in the Docks mod that effectively disables the script that causes Beryl to show up, or there is a load order issue there. Beryl does load before the Docks mod. I didn't try the load order as I uninstalled the Docks mod anyway.
So all is good. Beryl is now my trusty follower; but I REALLY need to find her some better armor.

Constance has been my constant companion for ages and i always use the "Dream Armor" for her, it is fairly high level medium armor and is invisible so you can attire your companion however you like and not see them in armor all the time.

Constance is pretty much a constant keeper in my party too, although i do swap her sometimes due to certain roleplaying. I use Beryl as well, but Beryl is good for the first levels. Currently i have her more or less retired. I used the bronze armor from clothiers of vvardenfell for beryl, since i find that fitting for a nord. CoV adds several shops and also some lone traders all across vvardenfell, particulary at the more civilized places. It contains most clothing, but also armor. The bronze set is sold by a trader walking at moonmoth fort. CoV is found here: morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/27167//?Look under the files. I equip Constance with a combination of Meridian Wine armor, fishnet leggings, pagan boots, black & red gloves and the oradea cape. Meridian wine comes from westly's Alakazar's Lamp. The leggins is from bob's armory, pagan boots comes from Kat's Kastle, the gloves from CoV and the cape from timisoara experience. But i don't let my companions wear the armor all the time. If there is no mission or venturing into creepy places or blighted area's i switch them to normal clothes. In that case constance is just wearing a purple dress from hilgya the seamstress, but still some little armor with the symbol of power amulet from gothic attire complete.
