Hello I have just installed Villja (latest version) and she's a wonderful addition to an otherwise sombre Skyrim ! Can someone help with some simple instructions as to how I can add clothes to her inventory? If I use the 'can I check your gear' option, I am unable to place items from my inventory into Villja's , there is an option for transferring to her bag no 1 and no 2 ( but she can't use things from these) but it seems much harder to put anything into her main inventory !! It would be a big help if there was a simple dialogue to transfer items from my inventory to hers. It is easy to take things , but can't put them back. Is it possible to give her things that she can actually use? Am I overlooking something obvious? The inventory menu only shows Villja's items but not mine so am unable to make any transfer to hers. (unless it is her two storage bags which arent any help) Any help would be appreciated.

Normally, you access her inventory the same way you access the inventory of any other follower, i.e. through the dialog. You should be fully able to add and remove things.
Are you using an optional cosmetic look for her, for instance an unique body patch or a face that requires an esp patch?
Else, are you using a mod called Simple Multiple follower tweaks (or something similar) by Kuertee? If so, have you added her to the CurrentFollowerfaction? This will have truly bad side effects on her inventory.
Same goes if you are using a mod that affects npcs in general - like REPROC - without adding her to the exclusion list for that mod.

Hello Emma I haven't added any follower tweaks , and Villja is working just fine other than the hard time I am having trying to put things into her inventory. She is a really enjoyable addition to Skyrim. ( I like her voice too ) and her hairstyle is fantastic, and the most realistic face in the whole game. The other strange thing I have found is somehow or other, I have been able to add one or two things to her inventory, so it is possible but I can't remember how I did it , I spent a couple of hours trying all the different menu options with Villja but it is hard work and I have made little progress. When her inventory is displayed, there is no access to my avatar's inventory making it generally impossible to transfer anything. The only inventory which displays both clearly is Villja's bag 1 and 2, which she can't use. I will try again tonight. Thank u for taking the time to reply

Let's see if we can see what's going on: -Did you have the same problems to work with housecarls inventory? -if you look in your Skyrim/data/scripts folder, is there a script named Actor.pex? -are you using SKSE? and in that case it's the last version, or at least a recent one? -Did this happen if you uncheck all your other mods? (if you try this, don't save your game with your other mods unchecked)

I have checked the skyrim/data/scripts folder and there is no Actor.pex file there. The four files in there are: Viljascript.pex AAEMsellingitemscript.pex AAEMExtrastoragescript.pex AAEMCompViljacompquest.pex Are housecarls servants? I tried talking to servants in the hall at Whiterun but they arent interactive. What is SKSE ?

I have found one way to give Vilja things for her inventory, and that is to drop things from my inventory and then get her to pick them up , the only drawback is that I am unable to equip any of these things as trying to select or equip 'takes' them from her inventory. aargh!!

The actor.pex file, is a script that containes the function allowing to access characters inventories. It's located on a compressed file, but if another mod needs to modify any of the functions in that script, it creates a new version in the folder I mention. SKSE is a custom utility allowing to use new functions in scripts. It does add the actor.pex file to the mentioned folder, to add extra functions to actors.
My reasoning here was, should you have the actor.pex script in your skyrim/scripts/data folder, that could have explained the inventory accessing function working as the gift taking function. On the other hand, should you been using SKSE, the pressence of that file wouldn't explain the problem, as that utility, while editing the file, didn't change the functions, only add new ones.
You have a good idea with trying to add items to her by making her take them from the floor, but that way she will not be aware of the clothings she take.
Housecarls are the followers you get by helping jarls. Lydia is one of them. To say the truth, any follower includded in the original game will do a good test subject to know if you can access other characters inventory.
By the way, are you 100% sure that the option you select to access her inventory is "Let me check your gear"? (on top of her dialogue)

Hello amgepo, thank you for your help. When checking Vilja's inventory I select 'Let me check your gear' when the display opens it shows only Vilja's items , such as weapons, apparel etc down the left but my avatars name does not appear at the bottom as it should, I can remove her items but can't place any in there.

I have tried un-selecting the other mods, this hasn't worked either.

Wanderer, I think you need Amgepo's help with this, but I know he might not be able to be online for a day or two.
Did you try if you could access the inventory of another follower? If you don't have access to a housecarl yet, you could try with a hireling like Jenassa in the Drunken Huntsman. Does her inventory work the way it should?
