Something tells me that once the Dawnguard stuff is completed, it might be a good idea to turn Serana loose. My group's big enough anyway. If you use Serana SDA, you would want to hold on to her. I have Serana, Rigmor, Auri, and the Interesting NPCs all tied-in to Nether's Framework. Agree! Serana SDA turns her from follower into a very valuable companion up there with Vilja in her comments. And please, pardon my comparison, makes her a more valuable companion than Vilja in a certain way. Vilja is somewhat the prude, while Serana SDA is gritty and more down to earth. Some of her comments take you by surprise so much you get slammed with 'WOW!! Where the heck did that come from?'. And the extra cake frosting is Serana being sarcastic, now and then smacking you upside the head with backhanded compliments: Courier, courier, courier, or courier? OR... a very rare comment from way way out in left field, sometimes extremely NSFW, leaving you with, ACK!! Did she really say that?? A couple of those comments that it would be easy to picture Vilja if she heard them giving a shriek and quickly leaving the room slamming the door behind her.

Hmmm. I've already got the Serana SDA mod. Maybe I should listen more carefully...

Hmmm. I've already got the Serana SDA mod. Maybe I should listen more carefully... Just a suggestion. I've always been running multiple companions always. I went alone with Rigmor then with Serana. I was so delighted by the SDA Serana dialogue I reloaded an earlier save with just her. I discovered with multiple followers you ALWAYS miss some dialogue. It's inevitable they will step on each others dialogues and sometimes actions. Usually a dialogue simply never triggers when the game detects a similar event is ongoing.

I'm missing out on less dialogues now that I've installed Subtitles by kpvw (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/113214), which displays multiple dialogues on the screen at the same time. And there's also Dialogue History by powerofthree (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/114238?). Supports SE 1.5.97, AE 1.6.640, and AE 1.6.1170 and higher

That there are mods to catch all the dialogue demonstrates how much can get missed. Multiple followers exponentially complicates matters.

Into the Castle Volkihar Tower...Our heroes figure out the puzzle and gain entry into the tower -- Serana insists that if her mother is to be found, the clues will be there.
But there's still quite a bit of sneaking and smacking to do. Gargoyle: It's what's for dinner! And their sneaking and smacking leads them to...what? A portal to the underworld!Mother left a note outlining how to pass through. Everyone breaks out in a cold sweat, moreso after Serana draws a knife across her hand to add the final ingredient. Upon entering the Soul Cairn, our heroes are confronted with a landscape beyond their imagining, that chills them to the bone. Kirsikka, who's generally calm even when facing the greatest danger, has never been so frightened. She automatically reaches for a hand to hold, anybody's hand.

In the Soul Cairn Our heroes to locate Vampire Mama. And while she has the scroll, they have to disable a magical barrier to get at it. Of course they do. If it were simple, anyone could do it, right?
Serana outlines what she thinks they need to do. Rudi tries not to notice the pile of human bones she's standing next to. "... and then we kick some undead butt!" Rudi explains. The gang tries to appear enthusiastic. Undead butt is kicked, the scroll is obtained, and the gang gets to duke it out with a dragon who turns out to be fairly cool, when all is said and done. Understandably, no one wants to linger. Rudi doesn't know which is worse, Soul Cairn or Apocrypha. He knows both will give him nightmares.

Just prior to leaving the Soul Cairn, Rudi gets his soul back, while the rest of the gang stands gaping in amazement (you'd think this sort of thing would be old hat by now, but whatever). Shot on the left reminded me of something...
