Oh my god you put her in "time out"? I'd stay away from ledges for quite a while then. Also don't give her any bows to avoid the "accidental" proverbial arrow to the knee. By the way one of my battalion members in WoT's used that phrase last night in game LMAO. Skyrim rulz!

That was before they fixed her follow distance when sneaking. She used to be bad about knocking me off ledges or into rooms. But then that was the only time she said she was going to kill me then did it. They also fixed her sneak so she doesnt agro my targets until they actualy see me which really helps because now I can shoot an arrow at a corner up ahead to get the enemies to run to that spot. Thats a good tactic if yo are unsure at how many are in the next room especialy when one runs and stands right where the arrow went making for a nice target. i've cleared whole rooms that way. Curiosity killed the cat and it also killed the draugr.

Thats a good tactic if yo are unsure at how many are in the next room especialy when one runs and stands right where the arrow went making for a nice target. i've cleared whole rooms that way. Curiosity killed the cat and it also killed the draugr. My character is a "sneaky" archer and I use a similar technique when clearing rooms. I shoot one of the enemy at distance, then if I can't get a clear shot at the others I'll shoot the opposite wall, which brings others to investigate and into my sights, then I pick them off one by one, often while they have their backs are still turned. . I often clear rooms that way without my girls joining the battle at all. I don't use it on corners though; with high sneak I can usually deal with that situation even if the enemy is fairly close. I like to have Vilja and the girls follow my character as close as possible, so they can react quickly when needed. Even if Vilja is right on my shoulder, I find it very rare that she and the girls will break my concealment until I want them to as long as I stay in sneak. I do receive the occasional "nudge" from Vilja when she first draws closer to me when I stop, but I'm prepared for that and so far, she hasn't pushed me off a ledge. Vilja usually stays very close to me anyway once I stop and once the girls are brought into the fight she uses her lightning at range, then later she draws her sword and shield and goes in to the fray. In the meantime Junie and Angelina will have run in to hold the enemy with melee while Vilja and I continue to do our work. My main weapon is a crafted fire bow, which is very effective against undead in particular, but will kill anything quickly.

Last night I took Vilja back to Highview Cottage. Everything seemed fine. We went and sat in the hot tub under a lovely night sky when a dragon unexpectedly attacked us. She leaped out as she was, went straight into her combat armour, we killed the dragon quite quickly with her doing the rare on-head special kill (only the second time I've seen her do it) . She then jumped down, said "You know, that wasn't so difficult after all", took off her armour and came straight back to join me at the tub, ready to get in again as if it was only a minor interruption.

Sadly I never get to see Vilja do a kill move. The reason is I have kill moves shut off because I absolutely despise random cinematic camera shots right in the middle of the action. kill cams in FPS games, jump cams in racing games. Kill moves in Skyrim. they just break the flow and make playing harder for me. Being in an epic battle with 10 foes and get a crit on sir skeleton and then have all control and the camera ripped away so i can watch the skeleton be obliterated for the billionth time and all the while I am supposed to suspend my moves watch the mini movie, then be able to continue exatctly as I was before??? Nope wont happen. Jump cams in racing games get me driving into walls, kill moves in skyrim get me standing about like an idiot until I reorient myself making that "Epic" kill move cam a farce. Or In skyrim i end up nearly killing one of my party the second control and cammera is returned. My bow does 244 damage, 31 fire damage, 31 shock damage, and 26 damage for the arrows themselves. Every shot is a kill move it feels like. Then add sneak attack X3 damage? Forget having camera control.
As for my stealth tactics, it is shoot down the hall to get attention on the arrow, one round mid hall if theres doors, the next at the end. If theres a door or corner that I cant see past... plink goes an arrow. Takes forever to clear a good size dungeon but so satisfying to pluck off them Falmer who can hear you even if you are muffled. But I could probably just sneak past everything, sneak is well into legendary status where I can be right infront of someone in broad daylight and not be seen unless they walk into me.

The kill move isn't cinematic, it is just part of the normal fight-play action. All she does is to leap onto an dragon's head to administer the final killing blows instead of standing on the ground. There is no interruption in the flow of the normal action as it is fully part of it. You still have full control over the camera and your own actions as normal.

I have a theory that this is a holdover from Fallout 3, specificaly from V.A.T.S.. Recall that Skyrim is based on the Fallout 3 engine (which in turn is based on the Oblivion engine, which in turn is based on the Morrowind engine). Anyway, in Fallout 3, you get a slowed down pan-camera-around view when you make a kill while in V.A.T.S. The programmers or the marketing department were so self-impressed with the visual effect that they decided they *had* to somehow keep it in Skyrim?

I will agree on they were impressed with what they did and forced it upon everyone to ensure they all see it. Nothing really to be impressed with, theres been cinematic cameras like that for ages now like Needs for Speed hot Puruit 2 had a jump cam.

I know Seyhab that when Vilja does it, it doesnt rip the cam away from me, but because I have them shut off for myself Vilja cannot do one either. I've been testing the mod Falion linked. I don't know how you have shut off the kill cam, jet, but while using that particular addon Vilja can still do the head kill, so there may be a chance you will see it if you are using it. . I'm guessing, but as far as I can see the action is merely another animation just like any other you see in a fight. It doesn't look like it is in any way like a cinematic kill camera, at least to me. It does not interrupt or slow down the action in the least. The only difference is that it seems to be triggered rarely. Using the mod Falion linked, after taking Vilja on a dragon-killing marathon, we then went for a couple of dungeon crawls to see if any slow-motion kill-cams would trigger. I didn't seen any of those moves tonight, such as the slow-motion flying arrow I saw often when making a sneak kill (or the dragon bite kill I saw last week), but tonight I have seen Vilja fight a dragon by leaping onto its head late in the fight. That is only the third time I've seen it. It took several attempts basically repeating the same dragon fight before Vilja did it. I guess it was a bit of a challenge to see if it would trigger. It sounds boring to repeat so often, but it wasn't at all with Vilja; it was a lot of fun. Every fight was different, accompanied by Vilja's usual string of taunts and comments. I even heard a new one tonight; "And I thought killing dragons was difficult". It demonstrates yet again what a great companion Vilja is.
