I think I heard approximately a third or so (the last third) of the files. I think you voiced appropriately overall. The only difficulty you should have is the emotiveness. Most of the files I heard don't need emotion, but there are a few that do and you have obtained different results here. In the file: FCMFergusQuest_62FCMCmdGuideTown_000093CA_1: ("are you out of your mind, what I'm suppose to do inside this destroyed place"), I think the tone should be way more emotional. Indeed, the second part is not bad, but the "are you out of your mind" part, is the one requiring more emotion and is the one receiving the least. You should repeat this one. In the file FCMFergusQuest_62FCMCmdGuideHome_000093C0_1 ("aaa, this is the life I was looking for"), the tone is enough emotional, a little more could be an improvement, but it's good. In FCMFergusQuest_GREETING_000089DE_1 ("sorry I have to defeat the ring leader, he took all my gold!!") You have achieved a very convincing tone. I have yawn while hearing FCMFergusQuest_64FCMCmdGetSleep_00005367_1 which In other files would be a bad sign (is the file where Fargus yawns). I think if you make separately the files requiring emotion, you'll do great. You could start a sesion with normal ones; when you are comfortable do some of the emotional ones and when you feel that you are losing your focus, continue with normal ones; repeating the process the next day you try.

I've been listening to 15-20 files, and I think they are generally good. I haven't ran into any of those that might need more emotion, will listen to them as well.
What I see is that you need to amplify some of the files - if you are using Audacity, you'll do the amplifying by by 'marking' the entry and then go to Effect->Amplify in the drop-down list at the top of Audacity.
There isn't much background noise in most of the files, but in some you have a distinct 'bzzzzz'-sound in the background. Could it be that you have a lamp on your desk and that you turned it on? That could cause unexpected background noise. It's surprisingly important that one makes all the recording at the same location, i.e. files recorded at the kitchen table might sound different from those recorded in another room. Now, I don't know your circumstances, myself, I have a laptop, so I made the mistake of recording at various locations.

Great idea, amgepo! I used to record following the list and as many times I can to make it in the way I think that should be, but sometimes I'm tired and save the less worse... My biggest problem is to pronounce some words and give emotion. I write a lot, but I don't speak. I have no one to speak to, sometimes I speak in English alone. And I hope to go crazy soon, I'm trying to study Spanish, French and Polish.
Emma, I have a desktop. I have to reinstall Oblivion, so I may not give feedback soon about this, but thinking now, I'll remove my electric fan and the moden inside the computer to see what will happen. hahaha my table is going naked, I even removed the metal board that I had behind the computer. Lately I'm not hearing too much noise in my computer, but I also think that I'm used to listen to music in high volume with the headset, so my ears are becomming less sensitive... 9_9 hehe
Thank you both a lot!

Oh, it's not a *bad* background noise, it's not much noise at all! I just noticed a difference, and thought I'd point it out to you, in case you would know of something you had done different (it sounded like a lamp-effect to me). Vilja surely has background noise in several of her entries, too. And, as I said, I think it sounds generally good, although you might have to amplify them a little.

You are trying to learn three languages at the same time?!!? Impressive! Spanish may be similar to Portuguese, and French at certain extent when writing, but Polish is entirely different and the three at the same timeā¦ you must like the challenges!

Hey, everybody that downloaded the voice files and listened to them is welcome to write!! Hi Marek, I did and the files sound good to me. I had to increase loudness a bit but even doing that there was no noticeable background noise. At least not for me, younger people with better hearing may perceive it different. A side note: You live in Brazil but you are not Brazilian, are you. Your voice sounds pretty native. Crash

Hi Marek- Happy Holidays! I downloaded the voice files today and listened to most of them; I think they are very good! I am very interested in an Obvilion male companion with the interactions and character of the same quality as Vilja. I have always played a female character, because I am female, though I have receintly thought about trying a new male character- for a change. How is the development of Fergus going? I always used Indiana James when I played Morrowind, even when I used Morgana(the first Emma mod I played) or Constance. Even though Indy wasn't as interactive and interesting as the others, he was my main guy! I'll watch this space for updates- good luck with all the languages! That is a very daunting challenge you have taken upon yourself!

Sorry, folks, I didn't replay earlier (when amgepo answered) because I didn't have substancial news about this project (and I hate to keep on promising =P). Oblivion has been a real realm of hell in my computer since I changed my monitor... but soon I may change my machine! I've been also busy with some personal problems and playing Morrowind. My Breton Nightblade is around level 28 I think, he's the master in two guilds and now he's around the fouth trial in the Main Quest.
For the sound files, I was using MP3Gain to amplify and it amplified the noises. I learned how to do it in Audacity and it does a much better job! But to tell the truth I'm not hearing the noises anymore, I think I used these headsets for so much time that I'm a bit deaf now! haha My sister could read what Crash said, she says my English is bad just because three years ago a friend from Austria came to my city and I was a bit slow to speak. I write a lot, but I don't talk, I only mimic songs and what people in games say. hahaha
For languages, that's my desire, not exactly what I accomplished. I managed to enter Spanish classes in a community project in a University (it's cheaper hehe) but Polish is too much hard to learn alone. hehe
Happy 2011! =D

Hey, everybody that downloaded the voice files and listened to them is welcome to write!! Heya ^^ Just had a listen to your voice files! They are mostly Clear and sharp, which is good, im interested to know what Program you use to record your voice, and i presume it's the quility of the Microphone too. I presume you wanted Opinions? in all in all, I think there pritty good, you have a strong foreign accent which gives your alot of character for your companion instead of plain ye old english accent ^^ , so i presume your first language is not english?, yet you speak it well and understandable. But there is one widdle incy thing if i could point out! Even tho it does not sound like your reading it out, which is a good thing, there is lack of err.. feeling and passion. but this is coming from a someone who does performing arts as a Hobby lol. for example: file: FCMFergusQuest_61FCMMeetLeyawiinHouse_0000E259_1 you say: "Il wait in your house then" so im guessing, your telling your companion to head back to the house and wait there. so you could do something like: "Oh.. ok.. Il wait at the House then.." So you have to feel like the companion, see it in his/her eyes, as if your there! So if he/she is the adventureing Type, they would be dissapointed, being sent to the house and missing all of the action. But then again, if could be a companion who is the hermit (Likes to stay indoors) type. which then it could be something like: "Ok Great!, Il cya later then!" I'd be happy to help you if you like! please dont take my criticism the wrong way! its not an easy thing to do! and having english as your second lanuage makes it harder! Keep up the good work! Danny x P.s I missed a thread where someone was saying about emotion, and your saying its hard to bring that out when you record your voice. Sometimes its not how you say it, its what you say that can help, as like the examples above!

Thank you, Hinigashi. Of course, I enjoyed your comments.
Have good news, I picked this project again (I managed to play Oblivion in Low graffics and TLB toggled haha). Yesterday I spent the afternoon writting his background but I didn't finish yet. =S I stopped when he arrives in Cyrodiil LOL

It's always good to have a background ready for your character, it will make developing him easier. You'll probably find that once you get started, he takes over and "developes himself", so you might not need to do more than the rough outlines.

Sure, it helps a lot to increment his unique rumours. Besides he still doesn't have interaction with other companions, I added unique interaction with some bethesda npcs.
I took the last week writting, on last Saturday I tried to record some lines of dialogue, decided to stay at home instead of going out, but a damn neighbour gave a party haha until around 4 a.m.! LOL Today I recorded more than 100 entries, but there are still a lot to record, I decided to give me a break now. Once I finish this stage and think the result is okay, i'll upload the esp with what I accomplished.

I didn't finish to record all voice entries, but I added random sounds for him to do while following the player (during game tests I found him too much quite, added mostly whitles, yawns and so on). I also lost quite some time painting beards hehe, I put an image on the Oblivion Screenshots hehe, but I changed some more details on his scripts, he can put on pijamas when he goes to sleep XD.
I was also able to remove 80% of the noise! \o/ Only the voice acting won't be that wonderful =(

Play the drums!!! Tum tum tum tum tum No... it's not going to rain... I'm just finally releasing the beta version of Fergus! Uhhh I guess you guys thought that I gave up the mod, he? Fetures on this version (exclusively released here in Emma's Forum!!): -Fergus is fully voiced -Most Neeshka features on Fergus -You can choose to build up a friendship with him or a romance. If you chose romance, he has a couple of unique lines of dialogue for man and for woman. -To avoid players not interested in romancing to have the problem of Fergus flirting with them, Fergus won't notice you until you chose three times the silly flirting options in his story. The "romance" works just like in Stoker Wolff, with options that will show up as long as you gain "love" points. At the end, when he declares his love to you, you can choose three love style: "intimate friend" (he's chipper near his bed mark, but he is not your boyfriend), "discreet boyfriend" (Same as above, plus he's your boyfriend but he won't call you darling all the time), "Indiana James boyfriend" ("Darling, let's be together!"). I tried to write a read-me just like if it was supposed to be released in TESNexus, just forgot to thank the topics in TESAlliance and something else that I don't get now. I guess most stuff is there. I want to ask what you guys think of the addition of the following ideas: - Add a topic "What do you think of Fergus?" just like in Vilja for his friends. So, Dro'Shanji, Luciana Galena, S'drassa, Orrin and others might tell you more about him. -Make Fergus a Doyen, since Fergus is a Thieves Guild member, I was thinking if you're the Gray Fox, you could upgrade his level in the guild and make him a doyen. -Make Fergus a Guild Guide, since he's good in Teleporting Spells on himself, maybe, if you're the arch-mage of the Mages Guild he could become a guild guide. I think these last two ones are too much overpower, I'm not sure. What I want to add: -Interaction with quests (at least in the Main Quest, Thieves Guild Quests and quests in Bravil and Leyawiin, which are his favorite cities0 -Interaction with other Companions (another feature from Vilja =P) -A quest I would take ages if I implemented these items before releasing him, so, he doesn't have them. Something I want to add, but I don't have the skills: -Use his StartCombat Spell against doors and chests to make him pick their locks. Since he's the thief of the group, he could do this kind of things. I tried to read the scripts in CSR, but I didn't understand them... Ah! And the most important thing: Finding him is a quest too. I tried to give him a reason to join your party, so his intro is longer than Vilja's. If you need a tip, check around the bandits camps in the Golden Road, for example, Ra'sava Camp. But I'm not going to tell you guys the right place, or else it would spoil all the fun! Download Link on the Image and HEREP.S.: Ah, if you guys like him, could you give me screenshots? =D
