One day I had a little glitch. Every few minutes any settlement I was at would have a spawn of monsters. Sometimes the highest level monsters. In this case it was raining deathclaws and gunners.

Excerpt from Naked Babes in Blunderland. Category rules, no clothes, armor or augmentations. Use only what is found or dropped. Hitless; no damage from enemies - only environment. Leveling allowed but no perks assigned.
Present game started, ~ August 2020
Okay, since I have to go to Fart Harbor, and since I'm completely fed up with Cait being so snarky to Heather and Dogmeat, here's the general plan. Slow walk things while I send Cait on ahead a safe distance to blow up everything in sight. As Fezzik put it so well, "There will be no survivors"
Now I just need to find a few dozen more missiles and give her the explosive shotgun.

Spent an hour fighting with installing Skyrim. Then I discovered my Immortals Fenyx Rising runs flawlessly under Windoze 10. Sshhh! I don't want the comp or game to hear that. So I started noodling about with it. Imagine West Weald wilderness of Oblivion on hallucinogens, roughly 5 times that size and three or four times that many flowers and other things to pick.
I just blew my day off with it. In 5 hours of inept playing I had far more random encounters than a year playing Skyrim and sugar coating, leave the area and return a half hour later and everything respawns. Worse yet, the controls are intuitive with non intrusive helps and hints for every improvement of the PC.
I'm still going to get Skyrim up and running for the scenic vistas but for gameplay excitement and challenges, IFR rates a 9+ compared to Skyrim's 2.
And a Plus plus for the inept gamers like me, not into melee? A putz with a bow? Throw rocks at the enemies and dodge around a lot. The larger rocks are highly effective. And when I get dead, don't reload the game! Just wait. The game keeps hidden checkpoints and will automatically restart you at the latest one. No more haven't saved in hours, you rarely lose more than 10 minutes.

Now you're making me check out IFR...when's the last time I even bought a new game?

Now you're making me check out IFR...when's the last time I even bought a new game? Some of the puzzles and challenges in IFR can be a beast. If doing one of those seems impossible, you probably needed to upgrade some ability. I spent a half hour on an impossible arrow shot before discovering the slow motion arrow upgrade. And some challenges will outright tell you your character isn't qualified and come back later.

Dunno, $59.99 for the Immortals Fenyx Rising Standard, a game that came out at the end of 2020? Sounds enticing, except for the price...

Dunno, $59.99 for the Immortals Fenyx Rising Standard, a game that came out at the end of 2020? Sounds enticing, except for the price... They charge what the market will bear, country by country. Folks in the US are used to getting stiffed and pony up the bucks. My Windows 10 was in a bargain bin, nobody wanted the old version. IFR apparently wasn't a hot seller so it was there too. So I got Win 10 and IFR for 1000 baht. About $30.
The keep the prices low to inhibit piracy here. Pirated those two are $5 each. The Thai-Chinese government / business coalition gig.

Oh sh*t oh sh*t oh sh*t. Ramped up challenges according to PC level? Nope. Just more dangerous areas. Yesterday I absolutely had to open a guarded chest. I hate melee, being a mega klutz, so it's shoot and run with the bow. Two gorgons and a Minotaur. Oops, that bovine from hell is fast! BOOGIE! Right into a group of enemy soldiers with a cyclops. MORE BOOGIE! Of course their neighbors were more soldiers and two cyclops, AHHHG! Where the H did that griffin come from? Made it to safety climbing an escarpment while having rocks and fireballs thrown at me. Surveyed the area. Roughly the size of the wilderness east of Riften along the river with at least 70 enemies. And cake frosting. Came back a while later to continue my efforts and they had all respawned. Ultimate game challenge: IFR but don't use the reveal feature of the surroundings. On the entire open world map, there are about 900-1200 places to discover. And probably 2000-3000 monsters to cope with. Without the map reveal feature and monster respawns I can see it taking 5 to 10 years of gameplay to find every place on the map. There is a walkthrough by All The Shinies using the reveal feature and an expert game player. 60 videos of just the base game finding everything. www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB6x_4-4tcYNEgqI5SIMgrqU9Ywbx2Q-QAddendumB. Harpies? No problem. Shoot and dodge. Err, ooooops. That one has a hit point bar a half mile long, and my shot didn't even register. Oh, not an ordinary harpie. 10 shots an it healed itself. At the rate I'm going it's going to take a half year of PC development just to make a dent in that thing. No wonder most players go the tanking melee route with a couple dozen stat boosting and healing potions.
And of course, finally made it to the cave with the treasure chest by sneaking. I am in easy mode with the hints turned on: YOU DO NOT HAVE THE GODLY POWER...
.................. the WHAT? R U SERIOUS?
Roughly, Skyrim equivalent, you made it though Helgen and are limping to Riverwood when Alduin and friends show up. Quickly checking the new Skyrim player survival manual, chapter 1, paragraph 2, Go spend the next 15 years fighting wild animals and wussy bandits before proceeding. By the time you get to Whiterun Vilja will be an ancient alcoholic hag decorating a bar stool.

AND..... IMF sort of sucks. Puzzles and think things through challenges, 9.5. HEAVILY+ melee close combat oriented. All about building combos and foofing and fluffing various key press combinations, which I'm a total complete KLUTZ MAX at. Doing a beginner practice dungeon due entirely to my unadeptness took me 1 1/2 hours. Checking speed runs that little slice of hell for me took the expert 1 minute and 40 seconds. Am now running my static files folders on an NVME PCIe drive. Unsupported in BIOS it requires Win 10 to find and make it function so I can't boot a C: drive with that kind of drive. Sad since it's 3-4 times faster than SATA 3 SSDs. But back to Bethseda. After telling Win 10 where things were and rebuilding the task bar, FO3, FNV and FO4, Morrowind and Oblivion run flawlessly. Well, Oblivion still crashes on exit of course. And so... drum roll please... back to installing Miryks Anniversary Edition! (To avoid any conflicts with the existing Skyrim until I get the sewer pipes cleaned. I'm afraid to even try the old install with the warning 'may damage your computer'. I'll continue to enjoy IMF puzzles and discovering but with bitter distaste. They deliberately forced melee and use of the bow requires an upgrade to do any significant damage. An upgrade that requires Red Crystals. Checking on line, obtaining enough of those to do the final upgrade to bows requires defeating almost every mini boss and boss in the game. OR put all resources into swords and axes and I already have enough resources to upgrade them both to near max. Or to put it in simple terms; IMF, HACK AND SLASH HEAVEN
Subtle tactics and strategy are FORBIDDEN
Footnote. Windows 10 accolade. My go to restart save game in Oblivion is just getting to know Vilja, standing in the stable yard outside Leyawin looking over an eight legged two headed horse. Upon starting that save in about a minute the OS sorted the glitch and the two slid apart. They have been stuck together since 2014!!! With a decent graphics card and ultra high resolution everything I may take a few weeks detour in my Skyrim plans to rediscover the flora of West Weald. Shadows, moving water, reflections OH MY!
Recollections of my first play through Oblivion playing on Window XP with a GT 250 graphics card set to 640 x 480 with all settings at rock bottom. I'm starting to salivate about the scenic vistas of Skyrim.
Extra footnote. The GTX 1650 bare bones card is a POS with Win 7 due to very slow graphics engine. A low budget card that cost 1/3 less than the GTX 1650 Super. BUT under Win 10 and it's better memory management the vanilla runs just fine with one tiny flaw. It draws power entirely from the PCIe bus. With ultra high graphics demands it sucks that bus dry, the BIOS detects power fluctuations and reboots the computer.

Well, good luck, anyway. That's too bad about the archery.
Now everyone can have a chance to giggle or laugh at me. I put the new NVME data drive to work and rebooted. Took Windoze a half a forever to boot back up. Then the power went out and a two hour session where I was able to get Wonkows to open twice but my icons were all screwed up and the audio had gone away. I had to fudge things in the BIOS and getting to Wonkows after 15 minute boot restored the system to yesterday. Then it only took Windows 10 minutes to boot......... ARRRG! Oh. Duhh. D: is now E: girl. Are you trying to look stooopid?
Newest IMF headache; overlapping spawning areas + red air and raining meteors plus One legendary Wraith, Two Hekatonchiries, Three Cerberus, Four(ty) assorted color bears, boars lions, Five Chimera, Six Gorgons, Seventeen Harpies, Eight mini boss ghosts, Ninety colorful ghosts and a reload of my latest save. The monsters are color coded.
IE Fleeing only makes things worse.
On the plus side, ordinary animals won't attack unless you get too close. I accidentally charged straight at a lion and ACK... hit the jump button! Went right over him and it ignored me.

Wha? All that and no partridge in a pear tree? That's my PC, up on some rock, ducking and dodging rocks and flaming bolts from all quarters and seriously considering going airborne for less hazardous situations. The problem comes in with flying enemies who get right up in your face from above and I'm woefully inept at the various perks intended to cope with them.
May I ask a step by step of the necessaries, a list perhaps, so I can pull one all nighter and have a fresh sparking Skyrim come the dawn? Sophia and Inigo a must but after what should they be installed. Mrissi nope. Too much Hollywood melodrama attached. Scenic vistas and stable game is the big plan.

LOOT (Load Order Optimization Tool), Wrye Bash, SSEEdit, FNIS. Always run them from within MO2. I have several calls to SSEEdit within MO2, the basic one, one that ESLifies some ESP plugins, one that runs a QuickAutoClean. Here's a list of my mods, maybe some would appeal to you:
