Ubisoft just managed to get on my all time Fecal Roll; forced game play.
IMF, I came across a boss in a narrow canyon, essentially an arena like area. So I fast travel and stock up on potions and spiff up the PC then arduously travel back there while avoiding all encounters. I arrive, scope out the area, then take a few pot shots with the bow. I get the message ENTERING THE ENCOUNTER AREA. So the usual, run in circles button mashing and taking pot shots and did pretty good. Got it down to about half hit points. Then in one of my evasions I got hit and knock over to near a wall. I get the message LEAVING THE ENCOUNTER AREA and the monster's hit points resets. I retried about 10 times, trying to stay in the middle of the area. No warning message it's hit points resets over and over. A half hour of this and I discovered they were overzealous with their promoting melee fighting. I had to keep the PC within melee weapon range. Move just outside about, approximately a 20 foot distance from the monster it's HP resets.
I've had this problem before with other bosses but this reset circle was tiny, half or less than other bosses. Pure game engine cheat trying to promote all the frills and perks of melee fighting and 'building combos'. This comes on top of my discovery I will never be able to finish the main quest. My hand eye coordination skills are simply not good enough to complete several mandatory dungeons. So I'm just foofing, collecting things and sight seeing, sans plot and climax.
As for Skyrim, I have to get another SSD. I've been warned numerous times to leave plenty of room on those drives or they wear out little bits. One third free space recommended. If I install this new Skyrim I'll be down around 10%. So I'm shopping for a reasonably good 512 SDD, preferably with a 5 year warranty.

How to royally screw up Skyrim. 1. Start the Forbidden Legend quest only to get stuck at the entrance to Saarthal. The door is locked and the only way to open it is to 2. Join the Mages College and do the entry quest Under Saarthal. 3. Have four very trigger happy followers as you enter Saarthal. 4. Be up around level 49 where the enemies in that particularly untasty toilet consist of mainly Draugr Deathlords. 5. Fortunately everyone from the college is set essential. But the chances of avoiding your followers shooting someone from the college with 'friendly fire' are zilch. Getting kicked out of the college in the first five minutes in that dungeon and an absolute certainty. The quest Rejoining the College gets shoved in your face. 6. And so now, the intrepid Draggingborne clad in tasteful shorts and a purple tank top - armor class around 50, magic resistance zip - with all her perks and stats poured into Archery, Alchemy, Smithing, Sneaking and Enchanting, (my playthrough is all about aesthetics) is forced to leave all her followers behind and has to snipe her way through one of the largest dungeons in the game with a double dose of high level enemies, and not hit anyone from the college.
After this I think I'll try Elden Ring's expert challenge of taking out all 200+ bosses while armed with a spoon.

Only method I'm aware of that lets you enter Saarthal without joining the Mages College is to use the unlock console command on the Sarthaal door.

Only method I'm aware of that lets you enter Saarthal without joining the Mages College is to use the unlock console command on the Sarthaal door. That's what I did. Put all my followers in a room and told them to wait. A few deaths and reloads later, I hung back and sniped as the Tolfdir and students duked it out room after room. My big hang up was some bars blocking my way. Turned out a trap got sprung and I was on the wrong side of the bars. Console, TCL, did the scripted event, the bars came down but Tolfy still couldn't get though. Had to trigger and untrigger the trap inside that room. I used the Wiki and no help. Glitched. That resolved it turned into a long arduous dungeon crawl with the PC sniper triple damage ability coming into it's own. What happened was the Draugr Overlord shouts going off by the dozens managed to trigger many traps and switches.
So both quest lines got resolved at the same time in the final room. Lucky they didn't conflict with each other.
Then recovering the party, Nadine got bored and went back to her inn. Inigo went back to his cell in Riften. Went and recovered him. I finally discovered the Sophia reset which worked fine. Long trek from Saarthal to Riften then another long trek to White run and Sophia was found and functional. So she cooled her jets naked in Whiterun while I dug through my warehouse Breezehome and made her some clothing. Shorts and top from the linen found in Saarthal, and dragonbone hat, gloves, shoes from the several tons of stored dragon parts.
And now I have chat tolerance limits. Arissa, all about thievery, Vilja, "There's something I'd like to talk about...", Inigo turned out to be a dead dragon scent connoisseur commenting on what the souls smelled like, sexual innuendo from Sophia and now off to the inn to get back the equipment Nadine has. Makes for lots of interesting dialogue as we stroll about Skyrim. zero fast travel.
I dialed up deadly dragons and the sky was raining them then it wouldn't dial back down, so now every few minutes I get two and sometimes three dragons at a time. But no problem, except every half hour or so we have to go back to Whiterun and unload dragon parts. Time to go make several thousand dragonbone arrows and equip Inigo with some. Not sure what to do with the 200+ dragonscales. Nobody can afford to buy the armor made with them.
I've considered installing M'rissi but her quest line is extremely long, tenuous, and if I want to best ending I have to make dozens of non intuitive decisions interspersed with extended periods of waiting unsure it her quest line glitched. Her quest line is doomed to fail and only following the guide is it possible to make it through. I counted over 10 wrong words or actions that kill the quest without knowing it was dead.
And now the rot sets in. Why I quit this redo and a five year hiatus from Skyrim. I still have about 50 side quests, non of the DLCs delved into and numerous mod quests.
BUT, enchantments? Utterly useless for my style of playing. Not a single enchantment useful. Smithing at 100 I only need two augments to make anything and everything Legendary. Potions are all capped to not compete with the in game potions. So four adjunct pieces of alchemy, make the best potions to help enchanting, and enchant a pile of useless crap into my hardware. I HATE using magic which requires micromanaging constantly. My game is polluted so adding more mods is fraught with peril.
I also discovered vanilla Skyrim has an inherent glitch. The auto saves are all corrupt and crash the game. Had to turn them all off. The new chip in the new generation of Nvidia is the cause of my color issues. It doubles various graphics and has inherent digital enhancement. So turn off the Win 10 and Nvidia digital, and desktop colors are all weird and washed out, but Skyrim looks acceptable. I discovered my cheap graphics card was really a prototype. If I want full control of the card I need to buy the newer versions. IE, this card, $200. A decent card that has the bugs worked out, $300 to $3000. And Skyrim looks just fine if I remove the GTX 1650 and put back in my antique GTX 750.
So lots of BLEAH dead ahead and all about social interaction with NPCs and followers. I'm considering using the console and moving all my alchemy amd enchant perks to more useful things like sneak. Or stay theme and canon, accept the fact I picked the wrong majors in the college of Skyrim, and divert my efforts where the results would be more useful. Quite a challenge this late in the game.

Are your alchemy and enchanting skills 100? Personally never bothered doing it, but if so, you could make them legendary, resetting skills to their minimum of level 15, while refunding any perk points allocated to that skill.

I installed M'rissi. Works just fine but has no body. Just purple. UNP and CBBE and old 2015 files and new files all mooshed up. Instant fix, anyone?

With all your files smooshed together in your Skyrim\Data folder and no saved zipped files, it won't be easy. Only option I can think of is to redownload the files again (or the ones closest to your versions that are still available) and see what the files are in the zips. Then manually delete those files from your Skyrim\Data folder, and try a reinstall. Ugh! Shudder! MO2 is your friend.

Then manually delete those files from your Skyrim\Data folder, and try a reinstall. Ugh! Shudder! MO2 is your friend. Well..... compared to going through a few hundred pages of transcripts and finding and redacting every comment made by a certain person, this shouldn't be all that hard.
It's the same as what my graphics card is doing with the ultra green etc. Being given old files to work with that don't meet the new criteria and aliasing in best guess.
So copy the entire data folder, do the obvious searches such as the signature Mri - the M followed by ri without a space is very unique, delete all, uninstall the new mods done with MO2, revert to a save before I re-activated her and see what crashes. Sounds like fun.
But first, I have two sets of .bds and .esp files. mrissi.esp and mrissi.bsa and the new MrissiTalesOfTroubles .bas and esp. So suppose I just delete the old esp and bsa, do an MO2 reinstall and see what happens? The old related files that aren't overwritten should get ignored, yes?
I have files in there from 2012, 2014, 2022 and the recent.
And with my Data folder at a plump 23 GB, this could get ugly and very time consuming quite fast.
Nope. Nothing works. Old files over-written. All new files are for LE or SE. I have a back up of that entire drive but do I want to try to dig through 108 GB then guess which files to copy over and which must be deleted? I played the first few minutes and didn't like the forced choices and more violent approaches required to win M'rissi's favor and approval. I can live without that mod.

Meanwhile, cat fur free, the intrepid quintet, Vilja, Inigo, Arissa, Sophia and the antithesis of a hero, faintly Nordic Sworeforn, anti establishment dragonsoul stuffed future ruler of Tamriel... - look, get real, by the time she faces off with Aldiun she will have around 500 dragonsouls to back her up - if he can summon them back to life, so can she - continue their misadventures.
Let's see. Namira has a toady to clear a cave full of draugr which she sub-contracts out. So double putzes. Big bad daedra can't cope? Toady shirks the job? So off the quintet goes and clears the cave. whee. And then? Go BS and bribe some priest to swing by and get sacrificed? Better idea, have fun hanging out in that cave for eternity, toady girl, I'm taking the 200 gold and seeing how drunk I can get Vilja and Sophia.
Meanwhile, the great Galdur amulet caper with a major back story. Force me to join the freezing legion college just to kick start the quest, end up putting well over 100 undead back in their graves, reload the game a half dozen times as the final scene is really glitched, and get a dorky bow and a lame-ulet nowhere near as good as some of the rarer random drops. Double whee.
But on the bright... and colorful side, I made a discovery in that undead shooting gallery! Vilja's bow is fire enchanted, Inigo gets Shock, Arissa gets Frost, Sophia gets Paralyze and their flealess leader has troll sap... err, Soul Trap. Now when things get exciting it's a pretty spectacular colorful light show!

Okay, I'm stuck. What's with 100 ways to use a Falmer ear quest?

Not much. It's just a slightly amusing book you pick up when delivering a note. You return to the 'Gleam with it to finish a tiny quest that leaves Vilja alone with the alchemist there. Give it to the alchemist, and that's all. But it doesn't disappear from your inventory when you do, so you can read it to your heart's content whenever. The conversation that ensues when getting it gives you one suggestion of where to get a copy of Tamriel Flora Illustrated, which is a book Vilja will tell you she needs. Or am I misunderstanding something?

100 Ways to use a Falmer Ear is one of two books you also need to give to Vilja's mother -- unless I'm completely mistaken. Don't remember which one the other was, might have been Tamriel Flora Illustrated.
