dualm, your problem is formlist corruption with items showing up in the wardrobe selection but not actually exist in her inventory. Download "A fix for Chargia" under the old files, and follow the instructions included. That should clear things up, and you can give the wardrobe function a second chance

Thanks Dovahklon for your reply. I have used the method you mentioned before and it still did not allow me to set up her various wardrobes, although, it may clear the added items I now mention. As had been said that I could expect: when I used the fix last time, it re-spawned her default clothing but I was still unable to get her to wear any wardrobes that I designated. The only option I have for her is an in battle and non-battle wardrobe which she will auto select if I use the setting which allows her to wear what she wants. To do otherwise results in Vilja appearing in towns naked and complaining to me for "my" decision LOL

dualm,
A few more questions to help troubleshooting: 1 - Are the said items custom items added by mods? What are they? 2 - Do these items have 0 armor rating? Have you order her to wear her armor? 3 - Do these items work on vanilla followers? 4 - Can you try assigning these items to an outfit and order her to wear that outfit? 5 - If you assign other vanilla items to her wardrobes, do they work? 6 - Are you by chance using SkyHeels? 7 - Are you using Dudestia's multi marriage mod?

You sound like you're having exactly the same problem I had when I first tried to set up her wardrobe.
My problem was solved when I clicked on "You don't have to wear armor". What I think was happening was that I let her "autochange" her wardrobes, but at the same time it was forcing her to wear armor, which made her naked in most cases except a couple. A bit odd really. When I selected the autochange (let her choose) wardrobe, it should've automatically deselected my previous selections, but it doesn't do that.
Hope this helps you.

Not too odd if you think about it, Vilja is just trying to satisfy both of your commands to wear armor and autochange wardrobdes at the same time. When the wardrobe has no armor pieces, she just won't wearing anything. And vice versa, if you didn't tell her to wear armor, and there're no clothing in her wardrobe, she would be naked as well.

When the wardrobe has no armor pieces, she just won't wearing anything. And vice versa, if you didn't tell her to wear armor, and there're no clothing in her wardrobe, she would be naked as well. That's the thing.
Initially, I checked her gear and handed over some nice armor and told her to wear it. A normal start, right?
Then, after some investigation into her dialogue, I set up her wardrobe. I gave her a full set of armor and clothing in the relevant wardrobe slots (all correct single armor and clothing pieces in all wardrobes) and then told her to pick which clothes to wear herself using autochange. The problem now, was what I described above. Ordering her previously to wear armor and now having her use autochange, she suffered some sort of conflict and wouldn't change properly and ended up being naked most times, except armor related areas. I had no idea why. Definitely odd. Shouldn't clicking autochange cancel my previous order to wear armor, and vice versa? Well, it didn't.
Then, fiddling about, I clicked "You don't have to wear armor" and suddenly everything was working as it should! I haven't had a single problem since.

Just an update to the troubles I was incurring ... they have rectified themselves. I changed nothing, all mods that were running still are but Vilja is now auto-changing her wardrobes. Another one of Vilja's mysterious little quirks LOL

That's good news. How much time passed before it rectified itself? Sometimes the wardrobes can take a while to settle down after changes, but it shouldn't take a great amount of time.

It had been about a week before my previous post that the wardrobe part of her programming started functioning. I can change things at will now without issue of her auto changing. She still enjoys brief periods of nudity but she rectifies the situation herself before any complaints to me about not wanting to be disrobed in the city. LOL
It's odd because I have changed absolutely nothing and my methodology for initiating her wardrobe functions were correct from the start. I have even designated the same armour for "Wilderness" under the "Winter" wardrobe heading and she no longer complains "I'm Freezing".

The wardrobe System is not working well all the time. I did nothing anymore on her wardrobe but let her wear what she wants Option. But now she is not wearing her White Dress on bed time but keeps wearing her armor everywhere. Also don't get undressed when Swimming, even it is configured this way. And now after weeding she keeps on wearing her wedding Dress all the time. So System seems to get some improvements :-) /Tom

When you say you are letting her wear what she wants, do you have the wardrobe system active at the moment? It could be that you will need to run "A fix for Chargia" to reset the wardrobe. You will find it on the Vilja Nexus site at the top of the list of "Old Files". Follow the instructions carefully, but there's nothing difficult about it. You will need to empty the wardrobes first then re-do them afterwards. My wardrobe setup has been working perfectly since I used the fix some time ago. I am using automatic outfit changes.

OK, will give it a try, because I've tried to wear her R18Pn 08 - Lingerie Set at home, but when I select wardrobe at home, she will wear nothing. Let's see if that fix will do.

No, not realy, redone everything new now, but she's still not wearing the wardrobe at home, still keeps on wearing her wolfcry armor inhouse. Will see what happens if she puts on her night Dress in bed or not now. Seems wardrobe System Needs some improvements anyways.

Tom, I would suggest a re-installation then, especially with ver 3 is out now : 1 - Take all the items back from Vilja 2 - Dismiss her, and go to a different cell from her. Make a new hard save and exit. 3 - Deactivate Vilja and all related addons/patches, load your save, and wait 24 in-game hours and a couple of minutes in realtime for the scripts to clean up. Make a new hard save and exit 4 - Uninstall Vilja ver 2.03, and install ver 3 (do NOT activate related addons or patches) 5 - Find Vilja in Bannered Mare, do the first part of her quest 6 - Talk to Vilja "Traveling together" -> "off topic - configuration and setting" -> "we have already done (some) of your quests" 7 - Go to Bannered Mare and talk to Beata, go through her options carefully, and you should be back to where you were with Vilja's storyline.
