Posted by: Artemis Post Posted: 11 Oct 2006 10:43 am Post subject: Julan: Conclusion ? [major spoilers alert!] I know that there are already general threads on Julan here, but as I'm asking about the 'end' of his quests, I felt it better to begin a new thread, since serious spoilers are involved. Wink
Okay, my little Bosmer ended up being quite smitten with Julan and thus pursued a romance with him Very Happy Now... she and Julan have just mopped with the floor with old Uncle Dagoth Ur... Once outside of the citadel they had a conversation, about what happened next, and Cali (my PC) reminded him that he had promised to marry her. Of course..he got quite evasive, and she finally extracted from him that they were technically, already married. "Oh"...she thinks.. But since she's still smitten she accepted his apology and his promise to make it up to her etc.
My question is, is this the ending of Julan's quests? Does he ever become Ashkan of his people? And...er...does he ever lose his bashfulness when said NPC strips down and kisses him? Very Happy Twisted Evil Because, Cali was most curious at his continued hesitance to er...raise the bar in their relationship. I mean. they *are* married after all Very Happy
I have visited Mashti, and also the wise woman of the Ahemussa Camp, I've also spoken with Shani. But, none of those conversations have triggered anything different.
It's not a big deal, I'm just curious because I like to properly complete quest mods. Smile
btw, Thanks for an awesome companion mod! ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 11 Oct 2006 11:57 am Post subject: Re: Julan: Conclusion ? Yeah, that's pretty much the end! (I totally copped out on a wedding, I know...) Although you have missed one bit - at any point after, er, I think it's the corprus cure... you can have a conversation (triggered by a starlight night Wink) during which one thing might lead to another... Very Happy
I'm surprised you haven't come across that conversation earlier, actually, and if you're married, then you definitely should! Razz
As to whether Julan ever becomes ashkhan, the answer is not in this mod..... (but I have plans... see this thread!!)

Ooooh... Hints of a sequel??? I'd been hoping! Very Happy
Ah.... *That* explains things! I had thought an interlude of that nature would be sensible after the corprus cure. But, I use NOM, so in general my characters are fast asleep at night... Rolling Eyes Hmmm... sounds as though it might be worth missing a few hours of naptime... Heh, I hadn't thought about that! I wanted it to occur semi-randomly and when you weren't expecting it, and assumed everyone ran around at night, cause the stars are just so pretty. Smile Forgot NOM makes you sleepy!

Seriously, I love how you did that, it felt so natural. In fact my current relationship of...er... a long time.. had very similar beginnings Embarassed
So, again, many thanks for a great mod, I look forward to any future additions, should you ever find the time.

Post subject: Julan: query. Ok, I finally discovered the Julan companion mod (amazing how I had remained so ignorant as to its existence, given that I have been on these forums since it was planned... Just shows that I barely ever tread into the mod section of the forums... Embarassed ) Julan is a Great companion, and in my opinion, If he is as good as he is described, he'd be the best I've tried yet.
Exclamation Now, on to the problem: He had no compaion share function! I say 'had' because I used the console, and a little scrap of scripting knowledge, to 'set companion to 1' and give him the option. That's fine with me, but I want to know if this was intentional, and the companion share should appear later (after quests) or if this was just some insignificant bug. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Neko Post Posted: 17 Oct 2006 09:59 pm Post subject: Haven't played it (yet!! it's on my list of things to do! just busy!), but I'd hazard a guess that yes, it's intentional and will be unlocked later on in the story.
I mean, really, who would team up with someone and then immediately let this stranger mess with their inventory and play "dress-up"? In the mod I'm making (very, very, slowly...), the characters certainly won't trust you completely to begin with - you'll have to earn their companionship.
-Neko [cat] ------------------------------------- Posted by: Serenity Post Posted: 17 Oct 2006 10:31 pm Post subject: You got to take Julan to a city like Balmora and talk to him. After a small chat, he'll have Companion Share. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 18 Oct 2006 12:51 am Post subject: Yes, since you've only just met him, it'd be a little odd if he let you take his clothes off. EEK! Oh, (un)merciful gods, what a terrible thought!
Is it a city, Like Balmora, or does it have to be Balmora? (I haven't gone anywhere near there). I wouldn't think of changing his armour yet, let alone clothes, but I used companion share to resupply Julan with ammunition. (He ran out of arrows, and I had a few hundred, and that was really bugging me). Confused ------------------------------------- Posted by: MyCat Post Posted: 18 Oct 2006 06:55 pm Post subject: Of course you can't take his clothes off as soon as you meet him. Julan is not Constance. [cringe: Grumpy it was supposed to be a joke. I never met Grumpy but I hope he would not be offended. Constance is my favorite companion but I'm actually bothered by the way she campanion shares with everyone. Okay. Unfortunately, I've only been to Ald-ruhn, Maar Gan, and Gnisis with him. I've been doing all the early Redoran quests before I start on the main quest. I'm heading off to Balmora, now though.

I think poor Osiris has now gained the reputation of a 'spelling policeman'. Osiris is no more fanatical on that than the most of us, methinks. ------------------------------------- Posted by: TS Post Posted: 29 Nov 2006 06:11 pm Post subject: While I'm stuck on a different part of this "extended" main quest. I just got to the point, where I have to talk to the other Ashlander in Ald-ruhn. However, i have no idea what to do, because now he won't even let me talk to him, he says he is thinking or something like that. Also, if I bring Julan along, he says I should finish my business with Julan first...what business is he talking about? Oh ya, I did get Julan Drunk and I did learn about his ex-girlfriend, but thats all i can get out of him. ------------------------------------- Posted by: MyCat Post Posted: 29 Nov 2006 09:11 pm Post subject: Explore all the options with Julan that involve his mother. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 30 Nov 2006 03:09 am Post subject: Yes... and if you haven't met his mother yet, then you need to finish the business about Red Mountain. Posted by: Prince Maethis Post Posted: 04 Nov 2006 12:00 am Post subject: Problem with Julan Guys, I need help with Julan. Ok, here's what happened. I was getting the Ebony Mail up at the shrine, and this cliff racer came along, so I used my Bosmer's Beast Tongue power to enslave it, right. After that, I killed it, and Constance and Julan both started attacking me. So then I recalled back to the temple and waited 3 days so they'd forget about it, and i used companion teleport to bring them back from the mountain. Everything seemed fine, until I went to go see Julan's mom for that quest, and now she thinks he's dead!! I don't know how to fix it, and she won't talk to me anymore, can someone help me out here? Kateri, preferably, though I'd take anyone's help. _________________ "Never rely on the glory of the morning nor the smiles of your mother-in-law." -Japanese proverb ------------------------------------- Posted by: MuLTiViEW Post Posted: 04 Nov 2006 12:33 am Post subject: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Im sorry. K. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Neko Post Posted: 04 Nov 2006 07:25 am Post subject: I don't want to give anyone false hope, but... it might just be possible with some save-game hacking and general mangling? Checking mw_esm.txt , at around 3/4 of the way down, it lists some differences that occur in save games. This document is a bit technical, but it listsall sorts of things about elder scrolls file formats, even some of the things found in ESS files (savegames). One of these records found in savegames seems to be this KLST (Kill Stats) thing - it has some kind of name (KNAM) plus a long (CNAM) which might indicate "what's been killed, and how many times". So removing this record, or even easier, setting it to 0, couild potentially fix these irritating obituraries for beloved companions. Now, this wouldn't be easy - I think you'd have to open up your save game with TESAME or Enchanted Editor, but it might be doable. Kateri, what's Julan's ID? Can't remember off the top of my head Razz (edit, silly me, didn't link to mw_esm.txt) (edit, and it doesn't like my link anyway, just paste it here www.uesp.net/Âtext.shtml?morrow/tech/mw_esm.txt)-Neko [cat] Last edited by Neko on 04 Nov 2006 08:04 am; edited 3 times in total ------------------------------------- * Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 04 Nov 2006 07:48 am Post subject: The id is KS_Julan... and I had wondered a few times if the Enchanted Editor could do it, but never heard confirmation either way. I've just reinstalled Enchanted Editor (wouldn't run anymore, DLL Hell I assume), and checked out one of my saves, and I'm almost 100% sure this will work. What to do: - Install EE if you haven't already. www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.php@op=modload&name= Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownloaddetails&lid=96 - File > Open - It starts off in your Data Files directory ; go up a level, into Saves - Find your savegame. (Wrye Mash is your friend, etc. It should also be the one with the most recent datestamp. I'd avoid selecting the quicksave.ess file, just because I'm paranoid) - It does a lot of loading - Click the words "File Header" on the left - it should expand, and reveal another item along the lines of "TES3 Your Savegame Description" - just to make sure we're on the right one. - Scroll down to Player Kill List. It should be written in black; all the grey entries don't exist in your file. - Click "Player Kill List (1)" - Click "KLST" - You'll see a lot of KNAM and CNAM entries appear in the left pane, but more importantly, you'll see some blue details for this subrecord appear in the right pane. - Find the entry that says "Creature" that is set to the NPC ID of the person whose death you wish to undo. In our case, KS_Julan. - Underneath that, there's an entry "Kills": Presumably, it's 1 or more, causing all this trouble. Change it to 0. - Save. You did make backups, right? - Say the magic words: REZ PLZ Wink - Load Morrowind and rejoice! -Neko [cat] ------------------------------------- Posted by: Prince Maethis Post Posted: 05 Nov 2006 12:27 am Post subject: Omg, Neko, you're a computer god! K. ------------------------------------- Posted by: laurenap01 Post Posted: 25 Feb 2008 01:12 am Post subject: ranyabi egg mine Alright I'm feeling rather silly about this but I just can't find Julan s ring. I am actually in the ranyabi egg mine swimming all over the floor casting detect enchantment spells (50-75 ft) and not coming up with ANYTHING. His mother s and ex s roles in order to get me inside the mine are complete and there seems to be no mod that is interfering with this great mod. I guess what would be useful to know is if I need the item or the item and a journal entry. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 25 Feb 2008 02:23 am Post subject: Did you try using your telepathy ring? You get a hint. It IS in the mine, btw... you're on the right track with detect enchantment. K.

ive been in several major towns ive had both shani and julan along and tested with only julan and tested solo
the mother, the widow and the ahemusa wise woman is less than helpfull what need i do? ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 29 Dec 2006 10:00 am Post subject: Everything you need to get past the barrier is right there in the cave with you.
Did you find the body of the Dreamer woman and read the note?
K. ------------------------------------- Posted by: skinkfem Post Posted: 30 Dec 2006 03:00 am Post subject: sorry the note don't gives any real hints. something about an altar, the only one i can think of is the sixth house one and that one dont seem to be manipulatable. then it says something about the thin ones with nails, the hungers i presume and that they will carry me throe the barrier, but they are so far intent on killing me. so im still stuck ------------------------------------- Posted by: Magicflame Post Posted: 30 Dec 2006 04:06 am Post subject: I had the same problem, but Kateri gave me a hint. Applause "The thin ones with the nails" are of course the hungers, there are three of them - constantly respawning.
SPOILER - mark to read:
Just hide yourself behind some rocks or so and let one of them (closest to the magic door) get out of magic, make him (it) follow you near the door and then use the scroll of command creature (you should tell Julan first to stay out of battle) - et voilà : you can click on the glowing field and pass. But be careful - if one of the "normal" hungers can kill you, then ... it will be difficult on the other side! Shhh ------------------------------------- Posted by: skinkfem Post Posted: 30 Dec 2006 07:30 am Post subject: thanks that helped. i would never have thought of that. the test-run pc has convinced me that this mod is a keeper any time i will play the mainquest.
now im off to play tribunal to see if julan has any specific quest dialog there and than test lost heir to check for interaction. ------------------------------------- Posted by: anais Post Posted: 06 Jan 2007 05:08 pm Post subject: skinkfem wrote: sorry the note don't gives any real hints. something about an altar, the only one i can think of is the sixth house one and that one dont seem to be manipulatable. then it says something about the thin ones with nails, the hungers i presume * and that they will carry me throe the barrier, but they are so far intent on killing me. so im still stuck
My problem is (duh): My Dunmer can probably out run the Hungers and lure them to the passage but Julan and Constance get trigger-happy and kill them before they get into the tunnel even if I order J & C not to fight. This getting a Hunger close enough to the Daedric passage to open it is taking forever. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 06 Jan 2007 08:08 pm Post subject: anais wrote: My problem is (duh): My Dunmer can probably out run the Hungers and lure them to the passage but Julan and Constance get trigger-happy and kill them before they get into the tunnel even if I order J & C not to fight. You could tell them to wait by the portal.

Thanks for the info (and Incidentally for a great mod.) It worked and we got back to the camp with Julan's father's bones. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Forest Stalker Post Posted: 02 Apr 2007 09:57 am Post subject: I hope it's alright to post in this older thread. I just reached the sixth house shrine, picked up the scrolls that were in the there but can't figure out how to proceed. On my map I see what appears to be a door around the area where all the ash statues are but can't seem to actually find the door which I am guessing, goes into the deadric cave.
Edit: Okay. It took some jumping around and I got caught on some rocks a few times but I fianlly got close enough to the hole in the rock to click on it. _________________ Lady MorningStar - The Archer's Tale

Posted by: wolfie Post Posted: 15 Jan 2007 05:06 am Post subject: Julan problems I have Julan tagging along and I am doing the MQ in morrowind. I am at the point of dealing with Hassour Zainsubani but everytime I try to talk to him he says I should conclude my business with Julan. Also Julan is not giving me any clues to what to do next with his business either.
I have everything I need (the books) for this part of the MQ (I have done it before) and the only thing different I am running the Julan mod.
I not sure how to proceed from here. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Kateri Post Posted: 15 Jan 2007 05:35 am Post subject: Hiya!
You have to finish J's first quest before you can do the Zainsubani bit - there are a few steps to go through...
- addressing the Red Mountain issue. - training Julan by at least 15 points * - a conversation in Vivec - training Julan by another 15 points (you can have done this already, so long as the total is 30, any combination of skills is ok) - a conversation in Balmora...leading to a quest which should be fairly clear to follow.
Hope this helps! Smile

1. I just talked to Rakeem, and he told the story about Julan's mother. The journal said I need to find more proof, I'm lost here. What I should do next? I have talk to every ashlander in the camp.
2. I did save Shani from hunting event, and she said she want to have a rest. I have wait about 30 days, she still repeat that she need rest. How long she should rest? Or there is some other action I need to do.
3. I just found your romance path, and install it. When I loading a exist save(with Julan in it), the error information shows up said "some item"about Chindren (I don't remember the Id) not found in the current save file......What should I do?

HI,
1.) You don't need to do anything else, the information will emerge in time...
2.) Just forget about her for now and carry on the main quest!
3.) If you mean the Julan RomMod patch, that's not a romance path, there is already a romance as part of the main mod, if you want it. That's a patch in case you are running the Romance Mod, so if you're not running that mod, you can't use it. You're not missing anything.
K. ------------------------------------- Posted by: life2if Post Posted: 03 Feb 2007 02:23 am Post subject: Thanks Thank you! Yes, you need to be running the Romance Mod as well.
But if you're trying it for the first time, I don't recommend using it with Julan. In fact, I don't recommend using it with Julan full stop. The patch is for those who feel they really must... Razz ------------------------------------- Posted by: Magicflame Post Posted: 05 Feb 2007 01:50 pm Post subject: I would not play without that patch anymore! Very Happy Everytime I am pregnant (not from Julan Razz ) and ask him "why don't we have a drink" , he stops me and says he won't drink with me because I am pregnant, that's so gorgeous!! Applause ------------------------------------- Posted by: melian Post Posted: 06 Feb 2007 03:31 am Post subject: I've never played the Romance Mod, but I downloaded the patch just to take a look at it in the editor and have a good laugh at the dialouge. I also read Julan's dialogue for quests my pcchars never do (Mages' Guild, Temple) when I need cheering up. Works better than an antidepressant, and it's healthier too! Very Happy

Well, to begin with, I'm totally new here so if I screw up in some way and do something wrong, please don't hurt me. I was going to ask, I can't enter the Cavern of the Incarnate because it says I need to do something with Shani, and she told me to come back when she's returned from hunting, but now I've been doing other stuff for days, almost counting in weeks, and she just tells me to come back later and she'll speak to me then. I've spoken to Rakeem and Ahmabi and Nibani Maesa and all of that, but well... yeah. ------------------------------------- Posted by: Purre Post Posted: 19 Feb 2007 11:30 am Post subject: Go to some larger town like Sadrith Mora or some such, and talk with Julan. * Hello... I suspect your save may have got a bit corrupted somehow (Morrowind does that) and possibly have some doubling - try COC ing to Ghostgate and see if a duplicate Julan has turned up.
If so, reload a save before the problem, and try cleaning your saves with Wrye Mash. If no doubling, you might be OK to clean your current save with Wrye Mash.
Hope this is some help.. but messed up references can be nasty, and can be hard to fix. Always make sure your saves are blue in Mash at all times, and keep them that way!

It happens very rarely though, and I couldn't see any definite pattern or reason behind it. Confused _________________ I laugh at your puny axe!!

I've given her new clothes and perfume that triggers travel together dialogue. Clicking on that she asks if we're ready to travel to Zainab camp giving two options -> Yes, follow me. and No, wait here. Of course I want her to travel with me, but her response quite the opposite: Then why did you ask? And she won't follow me (and yes, I've opened her slave pod... I tried to avoid spoilers but could anyone give me an idea where I can find this egg mine?
Edited to add: Whew! Found him. Wow I REALLY misunderstood his mother's direction. I was searching an entirely different section of the map. Oh well. It was all worth it for that beautiful "reunited" dialog between Julan and the PC.
