Because my 'Old Skyrim' has disappeared from the 'Common' folder in my Steam\steam\Apps I have completely uninstalled Skyrim SE. Restarted my PC and it still has not appeared. Why would installing the SE one cause that?
Does anyone know where and how to recover it? I don't want to have to reinstall it but I can't access the Skyrim Folder now.So unable to install any mods.
thank you

Don't know, but I suspect the old Skyrim was erased when you installed SE. I haven't done that and mine is still in it's original location. Old Skyrim version should still show up in your Steam library, but as uninstalled.

They should both be in the Common directory. Along with any other Steam Games. I have both.

It was there on the initial D/L of the SE. I installed some Bethseda mods which menat sighning into their site. Later when I went to install a mod into the old game it has disappeared. I wasn't too happy with the SE so have uninstalled it until there ae mods for it plus SKSE and SKYUI etc. The graphics are very good but the people look just as bad. I am going to have to reinstall the oldie one I think! Cant see anyother way to retrieve it, Tried shutting down, didn't work.

No it doesn't show as uninstalled. it's still there somewhere because I can open it from the shortcut and play as normal.

Yesterday after I did a file check with Steam I cleaned by DSL's and then did the classic zip backup of the SE folder. Since I'm moding the game through NMM there is no virtual files. If i have a mod issue I can just uncheck my mods and replace the main folder, toss in Wrybash and go on. Of course I did have that problem, 2 mods are not working and to be removed or replaced so will be doing that today.

No! I really am at a loss as to why.

My original Skyrim was untouched when I installed SSE so it certainly sounds abnormal. They are both in my 'commom' steam folder, both are listed separately in my Steam library and both have shortcuts on my desktop.

Hey everybody. How about giving me a heads up when SE doesn't stand for Sucks Eggs?

Well rhyls, all we can say is we're so glad you always back up your HD regularly and before every major program install. (ducking and running......)

always back up your HD regularly and before every major program install. Good point, I will remember to do that when I re-install SSE. Both classic and SSE downloaded correctly the first time but the shortcuts were not put on correctly. I wiped them both out and just put classic on. That will keep me busy for the time being till you guys work out more of the kinks with SSE.

Another strike against funky crud like STEAM. It's like someone or something else is in charge of part of your computer and can alter or delete whatever they want.
