Yea, so apparently Constance died, and well that isn't a good thing. Razz
Is there a way to get her back using the console or something?

I do not suggest you to resurrect dialogue-intensive companions via the console, as that would probably screw up quests and stuff.
Reload from a previous save. Smile

Her quest NPCs will still consider her dead and you will be unable to complete her quest. If you have already completed it (or don't care) then go ahead.

I was afraid of that. Oh well, I just have to kill the 6th house base again, so no big deal.
This time I'm leaving Constance outside. Razz

Sounds like a good choice Smile
(And it's true that all npcs will remember if a dialog-intense npc like Constance is dead)

And if you do resurrect her, it will be as she was when you first met. Anything she's acquired since then will be gone, she will be in her old common clothes, and she won't knnow you. You will literally have to start over with her; what effect this would have on any of her quests you may have started i can't imagine.
Companion Hilda is scripted to be resurrected automatically if she dies, and you loose half your gold for that (though this never happened to me when she was resurrected). Could this be added to Constance? She has an annoying habit of firing one or two arrows then running right up to our opponent before firing again ...usually to her detriment.

Nope, sorry! I don't do that. Constance is your friend and not an immortal machine. I tried Hilda and gnarled my teeth over this "feature" (as well as over the fact that when she was told not to fight, the enemies didnt fight either - the global command to stop combat IS indeed global.) Besides, this function is easily added to mercenary companions, but with a companion with a story line, other dialog-related things will be messed up if one just resurrects the companion.

I would have to agree. One of the things that separates an RPG from a FPS is the fact that death matters in an RPG. Sure, you can reload from a saved game, but somehow there is an instinct to preserve companions when you know that their death is 'final'. I sometimes wonder if the game might not be better if saving and loading were more painful.

You know, Morovir, I agree with you completely. I still fondly think of the hours I've spent in the *old* Pirates Gold (by Sid Meier) with my palms sweating and my heart beating hard because I had made a successful plundering tour in the Mexican gulf but would lose everything if the pirates made mutiny before I reached a friendly port, as friendly ports were the only place one could save the game! I have the newer Pirates-game as well, but it's not nearly so exciting, as I can just save game when things start to get rough.
I've been using the original game companions when playing NWN2, and I never bother too much with them, as I know they are basically immortal. So, why dress them up in the best armor and give them the best equipment? There's simply no reason for it.

I agree it's not very realistic for a companion to rise from the dead (well, not most companions). But it's also not realistic for a trained archer such as Constance to run up right in the face of a Dremora Lord rather than standing at a distance and firing at him. This behavior has also resulted in my character killing Constance more than once when she ran into the path of a massive targeted spell.

Would you consider it heresy to provide Constance with a "teleport home if health is below x" script? Since she will "home" to Gnisis under certain circumstances anyway, this doesn't seem too outrageous.

We did discuss similar options, but finally decided against it; with the at that time new potion handler, and the option to simply tell her to stay out of fight, we thought that would be sufficient for most circumstances.
Teleporting her to Gnisis like you suggest would work, but if she is in combat when teleporting, you will findher in combat mode in Gnisis, i.e. you'd have to call up console, click on her, use startcombat player command to reset her to normal behaviour.

Couldn't you set a flag on teleport, and run stopcombat when you enter the cell?

well, it's integrated in her dialog, you don't have to call up the console, you can just tell her to stop waving her weapon.

I'm in hospital with my daughter and haven't got the Morrowind CD with me, but I think this quick-and-dirty mod I slapped together should make any npc with the "emmasnpcid" teleport to Gnisis if their health get below 50 % and they get hit, provided that no other mod you are using is interfering with the voice section for hit voices.
It's not tested, though, and I'm so rusty so I could easily have forgotten to consider something I should have thought about when slapping it together. And you'll probably have to tell her to sheath her weapon when you meet her in Gnisis.
