yes, but why, oh, why, didn't they pick up on companions warping to player when stuck - I mean, that has been common practice since 2002, when Grumpy made the first warping-script, which we used in Witchgirl Adventure.
After losing my housecarl in the first dungeon, and 3-4 times since then, I have come to the conclusion that she is a pertty container that I keep in my house.
The crafting and cooking is very nice, though - one could actually live a peaceful life in Skyrim. Mining, crafting, making potions and enchantments, sell them and just settle down.
It's probably just me, but after some days of gaming, a few things have become a little annoying:
a) all dungeons seem to be huge in size and take a long time to complete.
b) I often feel that circumstances (i.e. npcs) force me to do things I hadn't planned and am not in mood for doing.
c) Living in Sweden, and approaching winter, I would love to find one area in Skyrim with a more, well, pleasant rather than harsh and beautiful nature. Is there any?
d) Sometimes the dialog seems to be less well thought out. You have dialog options that don't match the greetings; I find it a bit weird.
e) The companions - see above. Non-warping meat-shields.
f) Is it just my computer, or are some areas extremely bright?
But, all of this is just minor things. Overall the game is so far fantastic.

a) Was standard in Oblivion, too (or so I felt), but I will say that Skyrim's dungeons feel more interesting to me. I still want to explore, so far.
b) Word.
d) This was especially jarring when I stopped by Windhelm, and there were no responses other than: "Yes, I 100% want to join your rebellion."
e) Yeah. I'll wait until modders get involved for this one. Still, Bethesda does appear to be listening, which is nice!
f) Sometimes, especially when transitioning from a bright area to a poorly lit one, I'll get these bursts of light that are almost blinding. Is that what you mean?

B: This is very obviously when several dialogues dissapear, noticed this yesterday. When I ask general Tullius about the negotiations he has several dialogues about it, he also says if you want to join the legion you should speak to his assistant. However, if you do so she'll give you some orders and then you can't go on with convincing Tullius to join the negotiation until you followed those orders. Otherwise Tullius just says "I thought you got some orders?!" C: This indeed sucks. Whiterun, Solitude and Markarth are the leastest cold and roughly places but Solitude and Markarth's inhabitants are not really nice, and all of these areas still lack nice flora. (causing D) E: Thats up to you and other modding experts ;-) F: It's not your computer, some areas are very bright. In the area around Windhelm for example my (dark) horse looks like a big black spot. jackowords: About F: I've seen both your and Emma's "issues". Think the issue you described is caused by you're eyes, having to get used to the brightness again after exploring dungeons for hours.

Yes, really they should have picked the companion warp. Stuck companions are annoying. But I think the Beths are going more for realism than functionality here. Although you make your companion warp behind the player, you will sometimes recognize the sudden appearance as odd. If I get you right, Emma, your housecarl came back to you after some time? She wasn't lost forever, was she? When I lost my sulking compy, she was lost quite for a long time, but she was there again after loading into a new place. You are the first one I ever heard complaining because of too extensive caves or dungeons . Yes, it takes sometimes a very long time until you get your quest done because they put a lot of work in it , but it's challenging until you see light at the end of the tunnel. You see: It's cold out there and freezing. A little dungeon-crawling is much more comfortable . That's my feeling too. I even don't dare to speak to people, anxious they will be giving me a quest, I feel forced to do immediately. On the other hand it is nice that there are a lot of side-quest. But you know you are in Skyrim by now, don't you? Just look at the warm colours of shrubs and leaves in the lowlands - a small Indian Summer. Maybe give your game a wee bit of saturation. Just set "define saturation" under Tonemap in the injFX-Settings.h (Skyrim folder) to more than 1.00. Only change the second decimal, otherwise it is too much. And make a copy of this file before you change anything. The game shows a very high contrast in my opinion. It's just like beeing in the snow in bright sunlight. There is nearly only "black" and blinding white for the eye. If you change the "brightness", which is actually the gamma, there will be too many nearly black parts. I tried a lot, but nothing could make it better than it is. So there is nothing else but , when you are out in the snow .

Even more annoyoing is when you have Barbas or Meeko following you -- those dogs tend to get in your way in tight spots and constantly push you around -- that isn't very fun on precarious walkways. It's always best to go alone if the dungeon has those narrow walkways.

My first impression, after 8 days of playing: it's the best game since Morrowind, judging by addiction factor. ;D The dungeons are awesome, especially compared to Oblivion where they often looked like copies of one another. Not here! Emma, you may complain about them being too large, but I love it! Lots of enemies, winding corridors, traps, a nasty boss at the end and a new shout as reward. Not all of them are as big (I cleared a small bandit cave yesterday not far from Whiterun, for instance), but the many big ones I've explored were all unique. As for the companions you get (so far I've only had Lydia in tow), they're more a nuisance than an asset. The extra fighting power helps in the beginning, and being able to carry extra loot is nice too, but the trouble is not worth it after a while. Especially not their habit of blocking doorways! It was too annoying to see her die with all that extra loot on her that I couldn't carry home, so I left her to mind my new house. Oh well, I usually prefer to go alone anyway, especially with stealthy characters (mine's a scout/ranger/light warrior, or whatever you might call it). The dialogues going further than you want is something that annoys me too. I find myself agreeing to quests for shady characters that I never felt I agreed to, I was just curious what they had to say! But never mind, I'll just ignore those starting quests for the Thieves Guild, the Dark Brotherhood and some criminal outfit in Solitude then. They'll be great for one of my future characters (where I'll have to ignore the goodie-goodie quests, of course ).

You don't have to join the Dark Brotherhood -- you can actually wipe them all out as part of the quest. It begins with the boy, though. Doing this little favor for him was not a problem for me -- seeing how badly that old crone treated those poor kids.

It is absurd not to know where I am supposed to go, for whom, and why -- I know the old journals could be accused of putting a lot of words the PC's mouth, but it's actually LESS RP to blindly obey a quest arrow for lack of information...no? :-/

Have been playing, like you all, since the games release, and am making all of the mistakes as a kid would in a candy store, running around devouring everything with no regard to whether it be good or bad, however 3 days ago I stated "enough is enough" no more quests till I clear this back log of undertakings - thing I have always loved about the Elder Scrolls is the freedom to go and get ones ass kicked if so desired and I must say that my characters ass is pretty raw, beauty of this environment is the ability to reinvent oneself, so time for reincarnation, one with a brain rather than a sweet tooth

Well, actually there is no journal, just a Quests tab. There is not much room for text so the descriptions are all something along the lines of, "Go to Minefield. Optional, bring Moria Brown a landmine." p.s. I have not actually played Skyrim. I've been getting the sense of it from screenshots and the various threads.
