I cleaned a save with Wrye Mash and Laurenna disappeared. Tried to recall her with the ring but she won't answer. Wrye Mash say there is BAD REF>>NO MASTER and the girl is gone.
The problem has been up here before forums.elricm.com/emma/viewtopic.php@t=1118 but no answers as far as I can see.

There aren't really any good answers. Sad
Mash deletes things that have "come loose" from your savegame. Companions have a tendency to "come loose" easily, when you add new mods, remove mods, or change the load list. Or a save just gets corrupted.
You can either not clean the dirty save and continue anyway (might have issues), revert to an earlier save (best idea if possible) or try to hack your way through the issue.
Hacking your way through it would involve taking everything you want to keep off Laurenna, making a note of her variables by clicking her in the console and typing "sv", then making a backup save, and cleaning with Mash so she gets deleted.
You probably have another doubled Laurenna at her cottage already, but if not you'll have to find her ID and add her by console. Give all her stuff back - you might have to set companion to 1 via console. There might be other variables that need resetting too - check your notes.
This method comes with no guarantees - loading a backup is safer.

Thanks for the reply!
She hasn't respawned at the cottage, she is really completely gone.
A working save is probably somewhere on the other side of The Underground, not too tempting.
Would it be possible to make a new modd and trick Wrye Mash too believe that one is her master?

Errr... I can't see how, but feel free to experiment!
I would suggest adding her again via the console as outlined above. Unless anyone has any better ideas.

If you want to try that sort of thing, you may find this article helpful (explains a lot about references and masters and how they're handled by the game).

Thanks!
I been tinkering some and found something interesting/confusing. As far as I can tell the bad ref Laurenna comes from the previous save.
I figured some fresh air might make her happier so I took her to Suran, saved and repaired. Wrye Mash removed a bad ref from the Lokken throne room (and she disappears from Suran). I opened the unpaired copy, moved us inside to Earthly delights and made a new save. When I repaired that one, her bad ref was removed from [6,-7].
* So the bad ref is probably created when I load a save.
If I understand things correctly I can remove all a saved files references to a cell with TESAME, possible fix?

I'm not sure... Part of the problem with companions is that the game doesn't like things moving from their editor/starting cells, it loses track of things easily that way. I doubt you can prevent that sort of thing completely, but it might be possible to re-match the references with Enchanted Editor (TESAME can't edit reference numbers), if ref number is part of the problem. I don't know that it is, but it might work.
I've never done any of this myself: I just try to avoid it, and save often (and never change my load list once I've started a game!). So I can't offer much advice on what works in practice. Sad
EDIT: Just read a post on the official forums, someone said he deleted a double from his save using EE and it worked. Might be worth a go, then. Smile

Could someone post a walkthrough to solving this problem please.
I have just found the same thing, wrye mash deleting constance, so i went back to Gnisis and got an 'original' constance, she sort of recognises me, when i ask her about Yanna, she gives me her dialogue as if we have finished her bit, which we have, but every now and then she talks to me about things shes already talked to me about, going through her story and skills again.
I am just worried she will ask me to do the Yanna's hideout again, something which i can't do now since her hideout is sealed. In my journal it tells me that constance is really happy to have her bow back, which is correct, even though i feel she is going to ask me to get it back later. Is that the last constance quest?

Yikes. I'm not sure you'll be able to fix it at this stage - the fixes are mostly for when it's just happened, or (preferably) prevention rather than save-hacking. Once a companion has actually been removed from the game, I don't know of any way to get the original back besides reloading.
For your current game... I know Constance's chats are based on states of local variables, so it makes sense that a new Constance would go through them all again (each reference has separate local variables). But I would expect that the actual quest stuff would be journal-based... I don't know how the two would interact, I'm sorry. Sad
It might be possible to do something... If you're that keen to fix it, try opening your save with EE and finding Constance in the NPC_ and NPCC lists. You may see something that helps. Actually I'm almost certain it's possible, but the "almost certain" way I'm thinking of would take longer and be a lot less fun than just starting a new game. Wink
In future games you can mostly prevent that sort of thing by making sure the reference numbers are set differently for different mods - there's an article here on how to do that using Wrye Mash and Enchanted Editor.
Edit: Just had a very quick look in the CS - I don't think you'll have any problems just going on with the new Constance. If you do, try opening the console, clicking on her and typing:
set chatCount to 100
or some other value... I didn't try to work out what the different values would do, but I don't think she has any dialogue for chatCount = 100. If that messes things up, try different values (<32 she definitely has dialogue for).
